I Dig Pennies!

Some times they are not Pennies!

Not willing to take the chance
absolutly agree,,,,, once I dug a foil target and as I was getting down to it I said "self,,,,, is this another piece of foil or is it ,,,,,a nice gold ring,,,,,, YEAH "

I always dig them. In one month I've dug two 1909s pennies.. One was at 12-30 and the other was at 12-43. Both pennies. So glad I chose to dig...

I know for me it just depends on where im detecting how much time have to hunt on that outing. I know I am leaving some penny sounding targets in the ground that are not pennys. But just the way my hunts go now days.

I try and avoid areas with a lot of clad. I will dig all signals 30 CO and higher. And even lower signals if I'm at an old site that's proving to be successful.

I dig 12-42 and higher.

Mercs, Rosies, and Memorials all overlap around here. I have to dig about 20-30 memorials at 12-44 to 12-46 before I get a silver dime.

Also, the club guys dug high signals everywhere in town 20 years ago, and left mostly wheats and memorials somehow.

I dig them all no matter the depth, because a Indian Head 2.5 gold piece will fall in the Zinc penny range on some detectors, :surprised:, HH Don

$2.5 GP are 12-22
$5 12-31
$10 12-38
$20 12-44

If I'm hunt an old location I dig it all.
Modern, only go for the deeper targets.

Hi Ken,
I hunt almost exclusively in TTF, and dig everything that gives the slightest hint of a Hi-tone.
The goodies left are usually hiding near other metals and can give misleading signals.
I can understand that others may hunt different types of site and need to discriminate more.
Foundations & shallow water are my sites. HH! Herbie.

I pretty much dig everything that isn't trash...I like adding to my coin collection, no matter what it is.
