You have got to be kidding??? I can see signs going up everywhere Banning Detectors. I hope your a LONG way from my State.

Well, he's a long way from here anyway.---He got banned (account terminated) off of Findmal today but not before he went over & made a damaging post to the hobby on the Garrett Users Forum.-----That "jewel" post was deleted by the moderator over there---some of the guys read it before it was deleted.------Lord help this hobby if we get many like him!

Nick, pay no mind to the detector patrol here, there is a bunch of them. There are simple rules when it comes to detecting follow the ethics and have fun. Don't sweat the small stuff, the world is gonna end this year anyways so it wont matter. :clapping:

Uh huh, you're right, there is a bunch of us that care about this hobby, the future of detecting & the integrity of this fine Forum, including the moderators & administration.------That's just it, he had no desire to "follow the ethics"------You call taking his detector & (by his own admission, VERY nervous) 8 year old son and crawling/sneaking thru a hole in a fence at night at a private property golf course (without permission) and then sneaking back out after he had done his "detecting"---"following the ethics"??------You didn't know that, huh?-----I call the golf course fiasco for what it was--tresspassing and stealing.-------I got a question for you---what in the world does "sweating the small stuff" mean to you???-----What, this whole hobby disolves/goes down the tube and then we look back and say "Oh, we should have taken care of a few of those things/issues and we would still have a hobby today".------No, the world isn't going to end this year---I just hope the hobby doesn't either.-----and it DOES matter!

There are people who only give a hoot only for themselves and what they feel like doing. Then there are those who also care about the general good and what impact they might have on it. That requires a lot more maturity in my book. It means thinking and acting above purely selfish means. All too often the media portrays only purely selfish action with no regards for it's influence on many people.

Kind of a shame when they have the influence to do good. But then I've worked around the media business enough to know that words like responsability, maturity, integrity, honesty area rare thing there.

This is where the "One Bad Apple" rule comes into play. YES I CARE... I work with my friend who is also hunts and we couldn't believe this. I've seen a lot of things I've enjoyed through the years destroyed. And all it takes is something like this or the TV show that gave him the idea. Maybe the world will end soon, maybe not but I want to enjoy the hobby until the end.

D&P im with ya, I read what the guy put and it wasn't good it didn't help our hobby a at, so there's a lot who care about this hobby and we need to stand up what is right, thanks, Hank

Did anyone see where this clown lived? Maybe some damage control is in order.HH.

I was on another website and there was a message talking about a guy who saw the new shows on TV, bought a detector, and wanted to know (seriously) how he could make 1000's of dollars with it like the guys on TV. And so it begins...

You know for a fact Sir..I have always had respect for you, your knowledge of our hobby, and your integrity. Shoot we have even pitched in and held a contest or two together for coins.

Can you help me understand where your at with this post overall. The guy their all speaking of went on a private property situation in the middle of the night. With Flashlights I think he said " if he told the facts".. Took his 8 year old boy, and they detected areas of the Golf Course without permission. Illegal Trespass. He stated his Son was nervous..So maybe the boy had better sense than the father, and or a sense of honesty in him. The Father did not demonstrate any good sense in his travels, even bragged about "Sneaking on" the property..The original post was a silly thing to do that backfired in a park.. Poor judgement but not the end of the world. I'm sure it was all in fun.... Guess he didn't learn anything. But the second post ???? He was "Wrong" no excuse for it.........

What are your thoughts... I know that isn't something you would ever do.... But you say don't sweat the small stuff.. That isn't small stuff and could cause problems for father & Son, and any other detectorist in their area had he been caught.. "BAD PUBLICITY FOR ALL !!

It also isn't something this fine forum would ever condone, or leave such a post up.. I respect the Administrators for their removal, and banning the guy. He is, and with that type attitude always will be a detriment to our hobby...

Are you just giving us a hard time Montana???, LOL  Or do you really think that was OK ??

I won't claim to be A "Detector Police" but I am concerned with that type behavior..we all should be.

It was the same guy that made both posts Elton-----"nick dirt"----------correct me if I'm wrong.-----------------------Del

Yes Del...I changed that when I realized my error Thank you ...

I was replying to Nick's original post about playing with his kids in a park. Didn't see anything about sneaking on private property. I was only responding to his having fun with the kids.

Not sure he should have been kicked off the site so quickly...we may have been able to change his way of thinking...maybe not.

My guess is he can still read. And hopefully learn.

Digging giant holes in a park isn't "having fun with your kid". It's willfull destruction and vandalism. I think the fact of his second post proves out the very poor thinking skills this person possesed.
