Today I went to my usual beach, it was high tide and not many finds. At one end of the beach (my last stretch before I leave) for the last month I found 5 to 6 foreign coins. So today I decided to grid that 50 foot square area and I found 25 coins in that area. My son-in-law thinks it might have been a metal detecting club doing a seeded hunt, maybe, but all of them must have forgot to turn their machines on. How do you miss so many finds?

Well at least you did good at finding them. Congratulations.
It is a fairly steep incline from the water to the parking lot. Check out some of those coin dates.

I had a very similar experience 2 years ago at a beach I had hunted several times...I went back there one day and was finding foreign coins about as fast as I could dig them up..I still have no idea who threw them there but sure was a thrill digging them up..

That is sooo coooool. I bet you were somewhat surprised at the end of the hunt.
Wow...missed those. None of those copper coins look like they have been in the ground for long. Something strange going on there.
I'm going back again tomorrow and see what I missed.

Another thought! Maybe some kids broke into a home & stole a container of coins & when they saw they weren't the coins that are easily spent --they just dumped them--Not wanting to be caught with them in their possession! Ma

The ring tells me that the coins were stolen & probably jewelry & etc, too! Therefore the foreign coins would have been evidence that they were the ones who broke in & didn't want to get caught; so not able to spend foreign coins easily they just threw them away & scattered them! Young kids & /or Teenagers probably! Ma
Maybe, the jewelry was found in a different area of the beach.

Interesting finds.
The fact that there is such a variety of nations and dates that are old plus in a small area tells me it has to be a personal collection.
