It's refreshing to see more well rounded reviews of the XP Deus II now that they are in the hands of more detectorists who did not get one for free.

Most of us are familiar with the individual who has posted a ton of review videos where he kept calling the XP Deus II a "game changer" and has said alot of negative things about other detectors which created a backlash against him. (Go Pro out!) This person loudly and brashly slammed other well loved brands of detectors. Then cried foul when criticism came his way.

Thankfully we are beginning to get other points of view!

Now there's a video out that showcases a build quality issue. This detectorist posted a video after an upper shaft screw fell out where it connects to the handle. He stated he made sure all the screws were tight upon receiving his detector. One fell out irregardless and it was very disappointing to him.

Another detectorist made a video and said on two occasions his new Deus II would not hit on targets the Nox 800 hit. The new Deus was absolutely silent. He also cited problems with interference from other detectors negatively affecting its performance. He ended up switching back to his old detector during the hunt. I appreciate him showing us these issues.

Finally, I just watched another detectorist's review video where he was hunting a park with his new XP Deus II. He said the detector did a fine job discriminating out a certain kind of aluminum screwtop with bottlecaps completely discriminated out. BUT...he said, in spite of that, he was frustrated he dug twenty to thirty other bottlecaps that sounded and looked like good, high conductive targets on the screen. He was frustrated to learn his new Deus II loves bottlecaps. I appreciate his review and his criticism.

The XP Deus II does not appear to be the perfect, game changing machine that one particular detectorist has repeatedly and loudly touted it to be. It is a new detector that, like all detectors, has strengths AND weaknesses. When one person repeatedly calls it a game changer that trumps other detectors...well, that makes me suspicious. (And it antagonizes other detectorists.) So I'm glad and thankful to see other detectorists providing us with more well rounded reviews.

I was happy to see that one detectorist who stated repeatedly that his freebie XP Deus II outperformed other detectors - finally - posted something other than another nauseating, glowing review. He very recently posted a video about an EMI issue.

"Thank you, sir!"

I too am a firm believer that any detector can be a killer machine in the right hands. They all have pluses and minuses. Finally, I believe a bit of tact and diplomacy could've saved that one individual a lot of grief. In my opinion, he brought it upon himself and then claimed he was unjustly attacked. But enough of that.

In closing, I must say I'm still considering getting the XP Deus II. I appreciate that we are beginning to see more unbiased critque videos by other detectorists. Happy Hunting

Opinions are kind of like belly buttons. We all have one, but some are innys and some are outties. It's just my opinion, sir. I'm entitled to it as you are entitled to yours. You may vehemently disagree with mine. That's fine with me. Have a wonderful day. 👍

Who are you to tell us anything about anybody, we all can read and we all can think for ourselves, your no one special to say anything about other people. Stick to talking about detectors if you can.

It sounds like the Deus II and the equinox do not play well together, so just keep your distance and all will be well.

I became very interested in the Deus 2 by watching the early videos. It was light in weight, looked well built and had preset settings or the means to make setting adjustments. I now see the unboxing and the newer videos and have questions that will play out with more users commenting on the Deus 2. In my opinion, the screen is small and cluttered, the arm cuff looks flimsy, the upper and lower shaft is plastic and the tacky little wrap around wire from the coil to the control pod. What happens with that wire when you collapse the shaft, do you have to unwrap it or what? The real test for me is after a month or two when the beach hunters give it a good work out swinging in the pounding waves while in chest deep water. Before I spend $1600 I need to see more beach hunters testing and commenting on the Deus 2.

I currently using the Nox 800, but I am interested in trying out the Deus 2. Looks like it has a bunch of good features. I would like to see other folks who have used the Nox for the last 3 years and what the learning curve is to work the Deus. I was a Fisher user before my Nox, so I'm always ready to change if there is sufficient improvements to justify the 100 hours of learning to understand the machine.

I feel the same way!…….I’ve been using the Equinox 800 for several years now & it’s done well for me…..However, I lost confidence in it due to the known leaking issues & coil breakages. I never submerged mine because of that fear(warranty is up) too!…..like OhioDan says, all machines have their glitches ………I have the D2 now but, hadn’t taken it in the field yet…I can say this about though….It’s ergonomically better than my Nox & better balance , and the coil ears aren’t going to break off either!…..So far it’s got that going for it right now.

Ill wait until they have been out awhile right now my equinox preforms just fine when I pull 150-200 silver coins a year the last 3 years and quite a few gold rings I'm pretty happy.
Hey everyone has an opinion I do if you don't like it don't read it or listen me I like to see all the reviews some of these guys can't even swing a detector correctly I just don't watch them..

Have you ever used a Deus buckeeeeeee, You need that little wire on any Deus if you expect to have the coil under water. If you wrap the wire while the rods are extended , the wire will coil up when the rods are retracted. The screen is just as cluttered on the Deus I. and the arm rest is the same as the Deus I, I have had mine since 2013, I never had any breaks on it yet.

Poor build quality ?! .... a single screw falls out of 1 machine out of how many built and sold.

I guess everyone's experience would be different based on many factors. I can think of a few

1) Experience or understanding the Machine
2) Conditions of the soil in your location.
3) Types of trash in your hunting area - Nails, Aluminum, many types of Bottle Caps
4) EMI severity in your area
5) Fruitful areas you can freely search
6) A tester's impartially

Depending on who is doing a review all these and maybe more can affect the outcomes

I'm wondering how many of these reviewers have owned or used a Deus or Orx before now ? If the bottle cap setting isn't working I'd like to see that demonstrated. From the videos I've seen it seems to be working fine. Correct me if I'm wrong but the bottle cap reject feature was never meant to handle aluminum screw caps. They would be handled by using the notch feature. The bottle cap setting is for the twist off iron alloy caps. Even "if" the bottle cap reject feature isn't working there's quick and easy ways to walk past them as many Deus users have explained many times here. If users are already frustrated by emi, crosstalk and bottle caps I think we'll likely see some nice used Deus 2's on the classifieds soon. (which is OK with me)

I've seen everyone's video assessments of new detectors for years now. I saw how excited CD was when the NOX came out and how excited he is now with his D2. I LIKE HIS VIDEOS...but...I'm not personally concerned about his take on anything, not because I don't like him or his level of expertise, but because it takes many hours, months, maybe years to understand a detector. The reason I like his videos is that I can hear and see the detector in action. I can begin MY learning process.
1-I ordered a D2
2-I've not owned an XP product
3-Here is the part that might rub people the wrong way, but believe me, I'm ONLY CURIOUS... why, for three or four years, did people spend more than twice as much money for the single frequency D1 and forgo the multi-frequency Nox yet now tout the new Deus' multi freq as a major benefit? Are people saying the D1 AND D2 are both better than the Nox...$900 better?
PS ....again, why was CD's quitting thread ended??
