Had it not been for the fire that destroyed the company and the failed attempt by others to try and get Compass going again, you guys might be swinging Compass units instead of Tesoros or many other of the current brands.
Count your blessing AC is on staff.
If you like the friendliness of Rusty, you like AC.
This may just turn Tesoro around. AC is a true passionate treasure hunter in all respects.

Any fresh people and ideas will be good for Tesoro. Maybe in the future they will not announce they are coming out with a new product before they even start developing it. Some constructive feedback from them in the forums and update their facebook page would be nice also. Keeping that Nathan guy off has helped. But, shutting down completely has not though. With that last rant on here from him, if he was working for me, I would have fired him right then and there. That was just totally uncalled for and i'm saying so. Even if no one else dares to. The truth is the truth and hiding it benefits no one, us or them.

First post.. Just started detecting, i was drawn to Tesoro because of the "knobs and switches" . I liked the simplistic design and classic look and was amazed at the loyal following. I now own 3 ... Deleon , silver micro max , and a compadre. I might get rid of the silver. I'd probably just like to see tones on all there machines. Other than that I don't think they need to change a thing . You guys are underestimating the marketing aspect . Why should they start making the same stuff everyone else is putting out. Companies that make the latest and the greatest fail all the time. Why would they be more profitable if they redesigned there line? One has nothing to do with the other.
Just my perspective.

Are you well versed in Compass history? It certainly was not his fault that Compass folded.......

Hello Hombre.
No, I'm not versed in Compass history. And no, I'm not saying it was the fault of Mr. Cannon...
...but I like the phrase: " If one dropped out of a plane you can throw parachutes at him, they won't reach."

But what if another plane comes by and catches him before he hits the ground. So now maybe he is riding on the wing and just waiting to 'land the bird'.

I agree to some extent that if it works, dont fix it. but, you can make what you have better also. the model t car, steam engine, and outhouse worked well too. its called progress.

I'm a fan of progress , it just doesn't necessarily have to change who you are. A company that for the most part puts out what people call beep and dig detectors. You mention model t.....there's probably a thousand clubs that cater to enthusiasts that spend millions on reproduction parts Same thing with steam engines , as for out houses , the porta john business is probably a multi I billion dollar industry.
It's called a niche market.

I await progress!! It's gonna have to be more than just tweaking the present technology. I can only hope a radically new technology comes in my remaining years.

I love everyone's insight here....I just want a cazador so I can say I have the new Tesoro called Cazador ! Gona just let my imagination run..................

how about tesoros new deep seeking X-ray glasses. :)

tech hasn't changed sense vlf presented itself how its packaged has  really the only people have been the Aussies who have made the best VLF ID ing at its max depth detector no VLF can go past 12" and id the target its not possible.

no one has beat the Aussies :ausflag: per capita we are the smartest and best sports people on the planet sorry guys :clapping:

like I said Tesoro or who ever need to hit silicone valley see if they can scoop up some of our young talent they are making it big there kicking some yanky buts and so detecting design would be a big pay cut but you never know hey give it a shot Tesoro  you might get lucky and get someone from Australia with talent they all head over there to take the big $$ on offer and why not !!

ok enough flag raising but like it or not its all true.

the model t is not keeping ford motor company in business. the steam engine is not favored anymore and do you have a porta john outside your home that you use instead of indoor plumbing. come on, a few enthusiasts does not keep a company in business.

Well JLd66, not sure we're comparing apples to apples here. Tesoro does produce detectors for a niche market, but for hobby enthusiasts who use and want the analog technology. Tesoro seems to be doing very well over seas. My only complaint with Tesoro is not that they are just nobs and switches, I like that aspect... No, I wish they would repackage the technology in analog that they have already produced in previous models, or offer here in the states what they produce for the European market. For example, this new Laser 2 for Europe has the combined features of Vaquero depth and Lobo disc, all in the smaller umax housing. LETS HAVE THAT IN THE STATES! Or, some of us like TONES. I love my golden umax, give us something with tones, GB adjustment, and outlaw/vaquero depth. Or, issue a new version of the Pantera... With that awesome adjustable tone break feature, honestly, if the Outlaw had Tone break I think it would be the cats meow, how could you beat that combo of features...

There it is, just gave Tesoro some marketing ideas... Have at it! I think most people on this forum would agree that Tesoro probably makes the best discriminator out there, and many of us don't want screens to look at, but I like tones, or at least a tone break feature to help me decide if I want to dig or not without having to thumb the nob all the time. Sure, I know that if you ignore the lower hitting conductors you might be passing up on something good like a gold ring, but after a while, digging all the crap isn't any fun and I set the disc up. With tones you don't have to set the disc up, just listen and decide if you want to dig.

Tesoro has already produced machines with tones, let's have something along these lines... But keep it simple, nobs switches and toggles, if you please!

I don't care where a detector is made or who makes it, I'll buy it if it works for me.
Even tho some will poo-poo the country or manufacturer without even having tried the machine(s).
Maybe Tesoro should look overseas and try to snag some high IQ electronics engineer, like Fisher did at one point
that gave you the Coinstrike, Gold Strike, ID Edge, Excell. Tesoro should have grabbed them when First Texas bought them out and discontinued the line.

Its been mentioned before about Bruce Candy.
Maybe Tesoro should entice him to join the company by giving him 95% ownership.......................for an Aussie $
That would solve everyone's problems...LOL

vacations-travel-beach_bums-treasure_hunter-treasure_hunting-vacation-beach-19832901_low.jpg

Oh yeah, the Cazador do you know why it never was released. They hired a young, inexperienced engineer out of grade school.......
He suggested keeping it simple like current Tesoros and said BFO's are the future and he came up with the prototype BFO umax.
0.jpg

After paying him more wages than Tesoros top CEO to design the newest machine, they let him go.
If they only gave this youngster a chance.

They need a umax version of the DeepTech Vista Gold, identical features with an expandable disc range as Tesoro currently has.
With a concentric search coil(s). With switchable frequencies 7, 14 and 20khz. Or three models with a single frequency. Switchable 2-3 tone.
It would be a kick butt machine and give Tesoro fans exactly what they want.

DeepTech is considering building a unit with above expanded disc like Tesoros for the US market of coin and jewelry hunters.
I would buy either one, would prefer umax size or even Tejon size control box.

Tesoro just needs a deep machine like that, nothing fancy.................yet functional.
