It's kind of funny that you get some whiners who don't know the new machine yet talking about how much better the machine they know is...

I had to really think hard on getting this detector my exp 2 had been very good to me over the years.Dug great coins with it didn't buy the e-trac so I kept using the old 2 anyhow when the 3030 came out it looked like a major improvement over the exp 2 so I bit and felt like I had made a mistake the first day I took it out I said that was dumb buying this.I remember how long it took to get to know the exp 2 after a year with it I could do just about anything with it I said this detector is my pride and joy there wasn't anything that was going to hid from it.Flash forward the ctx has been mine for little over a month don't know all the modes yet but I'm finding stuff at twice the rate the exp 2 that I have had for 5 years. The speed of the recovery between targets is very fast compared to the exp 2 the ctx well cover twice the ground which gives me more finds target separation is faster and better just as deep or deeper,My hunt's don't end in a hour where I have to rest because I just can;t swing it anymore don't have to take breaks anymore which makes for more finds.Finds coins that should have been nailed by the exp 2 but didn't When I finally get really dialed in it well be good to me like my exp 2 was .If your on the fence on this one and can stomach the price this is the real deal. I still love my old exp 2 but there's a new kid in town and he like silver just like his brother.

Good post sube... I think a lot more will say the same thing when they give it a chance!!

Do you ever notice that when the Sovereign came out many tried them and sold them again as they didn't like them as they were different. Now when the Explorer XS came out back in 99 many got them and they too didn't like them either and some sold them too while those that stuck with them and learned them did well with them. Then the EX 2 came out and the same problem as many wanted them to run like what they wanted and not learn what the detector can do, next was the SE and the same thing and now we see the E-Trac and the same thing again many didn't like them either and those that took the time to get to know this detector do well and see where it is a improvement. Now we have the CTX so why should it be any different?? Those that will ask question and learn them will do well, those that only see it don't have what they want (finding good coins and no trash) and don't want to learn this detector will sell them and complain they had one and their old detector was better and didn't cost $2400 either while those that kept and learn them will be doing great. Like anything it take time and patience for the best. You have to learn and understand what you are using and this can not be done in a day or so.

I'm with Sube on this one. Still have my etracs, but the CTX you can hunt faster, have the waterproof capability, has clearer/cleaner audio and seems to lock on to targets better. It's really better over the e in iron pits and trashy sites. I've got another brand high end detector and to be honest, I wouldn't trade my CTX for 3 of them.

I want one of them cup holders!!!:drinking:

"pushing"

I've recently been reading the Tesoro forum to see about the release of the Outlaw detector. I think Tesoro is a fine company and have owned several of their detectors in the past. In visiting the Tesoro forum what are my expectations as to what I will find for posts on a brand specific forum? I will expect that the Outlaw will have been field tested and reviewed by long time Tesoro brand users that like the brand. I will expect that the flavor of those reviews will tend to be favorable. But I will also take note of any positive claims that may tend toward the incredulous.

The reactions to the Outlaw release will vary from rabid positive support from Tesoro fans to those who are disappointed in a major way because Tesoro didn't build the new detector to the exact specifications the poster wanted. In between those extremes there are usually some drive by's and some thoughtful comments/questions. While reading all of this do I consider anything positive to be "pushing"? No. Now if a Tesoro Outlaw reviewer begins posting on other brand forums and tries to convince others to dump their brand and buy an Outlaw then that's "pushing".

As previously mentioned there has been an internecine conflict with previous releases of the Explorer series. But there is also something darker occurring with recent "anti-CTX" posts here which many may not recognize or fear to speak out about. There is a vested financial interest for certain individuals and companies to suppress CTX sales because it will affect the sales of their items for the E-trac/Explorer. And I'm sure I'll receive threatening PM's for having the guts to say the previous.

OK what about a Disclaimer on my part. Am I Dealer/Distributor/Sales Rep or Minelab Employee? No. Do I own a CTX? No. Why my interest in the CTX then? Because I took part in early module Beta Testing and product definition etc., and like to observe whether my suggestions resulted in developing a better product. Was I paid a consulting or engineering fee? Nope. Do I get a percentage for every CTX sold? Nope. Whether one, or one million get sold there's no check that arrives in the mail. Why did I get asked for participation on CTX development? Because I had a lot of input into the development of the X-terra II line and feel that my advocating of certain features made them a better detector for end users.

Pushing or just proud with their choice of detector? Either way, what would you expect on ANY of the Model specific forums?

You are FAR too modest Bill. Without your knowledge and skills in helping to develop both the second generation X-TERRA lineup and more recently the CTX 3030, it is highly unlikely that either product would have incorporated the functionality and design that users have come to appreciate. For you to share that with the manufacturers by voluntarily "consulting" ...... I am honored to call you my friend. My hat is off to you sir, for all the (behind the scenes) contributions you have made on behalf of these (and other) products. Thanks for sharing your skills. HH Randy

P.S. if you get any threatening messages from your comment regarding a vested financial interest for certain individuals and companies to suppress CTX sales because it will affect the sales of their items for the E-trac/Explorer...... I got your back!

Well then all I can say is good job to both Barnicle Bill and Digger for their part in the process for making the CTX possible and for this forum. And to all others for that matter. Now if someone could tell me how to make some dang spare time so I can get out there and swing the darn thing I will be a happy camper. BTW I like the cupholder idea too. My dealer did mot have that model in stock.

Randy-----I KNEW I should have waited for the advent of the deluxe model!!-----The fan & coffee cup holder (provided the cup is full of coffee) looks to counter balance themselves very well!!---------Del

I am an etrac user and love it but soon I plan on upgrading to the ctx those complaining must like stepping on the headphone cords ,putting on the needed rain jacket over the detector and carry around something they have to strap on to their body just to carry around.these alone have made me interested enough in trying it and like the etrac it will all come together

I like the na sayers...... I warned all of you to STOP boasting about the 3030,,,,, the longer we keep it's capabilities low key the longer we will have the machine to ourselves,,, and more time to find the goodies,,,, boat anchor I say,,,,, that's all it's good for IMHO :drinking:

You sound like you must have known my father when I was growing up. When a fella would come along and ask if we were having any luck while we were fishing, my father's response would be, "nothing biting today". Meanwhile we had 3 stringers chock full of trout.

DO NOT BUY THE CTX. Them dang Aussies were lying through a toothe on this one. It couldn't find a bent nail at an inch in nail infested ground. Darn thing is stubborn too.....never turns on when your ready to take it out. Falses all the time. I think them aussies balanced out silver cause it won't air test a silver quarter at half an inch. PLEASE DONT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY ON THIS ONE. You can find better machines for $59.95 elsewhere.

yep,,,, let'em, find out on thier own,,,,, I like your Dad,,,,,

I think this is par for the course on any forum and to each his own. I for one KNOW that the CTX is the best out right now.It has already proved it's abilities to me and from the posts countless times over. What I hate is the naysayers who have never seen let alone used this machine and knock it in hopes to further their agenda for XYZ detector. I truly feel for the most part people on here have tried to teach and learn together; so we can all get the maximum performance out of the CTX. To the naysayers please keep swing your machine if it works that well why change. To the wanna-be's If your 59.95 ACME is that great goto that forum and post it same with the naysayers goto your forum and post it. I for one want to stay in my forum and learn the tips and tricks to get the best results and if there is an issue or problem with the machine cause no machine is without flaws lets work together to find a solution. Just my 2 cents HH all.

Matt
