Went back to the same site I found the 2-Cent coin for a couple hours today ahead of the rain. Things started pretty slow, and I was beginning to think that it was going to be wash, but then I started hitting odd bits again. More old harness rivets, a spoon, another thimble, some sort of tag (no visible writing, embossing, or marks), a plain button, and another Winchester New Rival.
I was just about to call it quits when I hit this.
And shortly after the Canadian penny, I hit this.
Not long after that it started to rain, so I packed it in.
With any luck I'll get back out there sometime during the week, but it's supposed to rain and snow tonight and tomorrow, and my window of opportunity is rapidly closing because the field is going to be planted pretty soon. The farmer that works that ground was out there with a loader yesterday picking rocks getting ready, and he doesn't waste a minute when he decides it's time to plant.
