Hi Guys
I am very new to metal detector use.
I have been looking at this site for the last month, getting many tips and am impressed with your sensible comments and the overall content so decided to join up.
My Ace 250 so far has found me $63.63 in coin (mainly in swing parks), 1 x 1925 sixpence in poor condition, 1 x silver ring (looks homemade and found about 6 inches down the side of a big tree), 1 x child's bracelet and a $5 note (if I had not been out with the detector would not have found it, so still claiming it) and also dug up an awful lot of junk but will still dig every signal until I can understand what the machine is telling me. I have just started on the second set of batteries so have not been using it many hours. It certainly paid off for me to read the instruction book and to practice with all sorts of metal objects and coins before setting out.
My wife loves the beach and I don't, but now that I have the detector to use there, it is magic AND much much less expensive than fishing. Bought the detector on EBay, secondhand with two coils, standard and Sniper, trowel and find bag. I like both coils and change them regularly when the situation requires.
Hope to try our luck for 'whatever' (gold nugget would be nice) up at Sandstone Western Australia in the next couple of weeks and then on to the Pilbarra region (we are heading north for the winter).
Find anything worthwhile will let you know but happy to sit in the background and learn more.
