Is the MXT one of the best machines ever made?

Now that's a BIG plus for having a "well written instruction manual". Does that come in a pocket size also with the English and Malay version?

You're a sight for sore eyes Dennis!!! Sure is nice to see you here!!! :wiggle: HH, Nancy

I've owned my MXT for almost 2 years and I don't claim to be a expert but I think it's a great detector!!!! I also own a ML Excalibur apart from the fact one is waterproof and they have different technology it doesn't mean one is better than the other in fact they compliment each other.at the beach last week my partner lost a diamond stud ear ring,I found the ear ring and the backing clip with the MXT in prospect mode, the ML wouldn't pick it up at all,the MXT is very sensitive to small targets yet put a ring 12'+ in the sand and see which detector shines?it really depends on what you are looking for and where you are hunting .I wouldn't part with either. By the way the diamond stud is worth more than the ring I found.

Yes, the MXT *is* one of the best machines ever made. That said, it is not the best machine for every purpose. I've had an MXT for some years now, since I liked the quick analog controls compared to the deep menu approach. I dumped the XLT and DFX for that reason. I've begun to realize that here on the West coast there simply isn't that much silver coins left in the usual places. If you go to parks and schools nowadays, it is flash money and jewelry. The MXT is as good as any - and best on jewelry, as any. However, I can't get those deep silvers out of my head, and when I go for those, the e-trac is king. It is better than the MXT for those targets, and that is why I got one. It is also superior on wet, mineralized beaches.

Larry .... you are correct! I'm a quick learner!

I have to give Minelab credit for creating a decent manual that came with the Safari.
It makes a word of difference indeed!

MXT is a wonderful machine, heavy after awhile of swinging, but wonderful. Hummmmm.
My last girlfriend was kind of like that. A bit heavy after a time, but really wonderful. I
can't remember whatever happened to her. OPPS. The closet with my Ace 250!

Katz:lol:

That's terrible Katz. Your detector should be out finding goods, not in the closet.

The whole thing with the MXT/M6 is they are both an excellent first detector and something most still don't want to give up when they buy something more full featured. I have to begin with saying I've never owned an MXT. But....been detecting since early '70s, am fortunate to have used them frequently, and because of experience jump into it's use with at least a high intermediate level of comprehension. This machine ALWAYS leaves me with a smile!
When people ask me what machine they should buy, the first thing I ask is if they've done much detecting before. If they say none to little or that they have but want to be able to do gold too (and want something current) the MXT is the only machine to get.(Just my opinion but I don't give it lightly either.)

Reasons:

1. Knobs have a huge advantage in learning with.
2. The MXT isn't very critical with sweep speed (to get good results).
3. If they do end up wanting more full featured and need to sell? It holds it's value well.
4. It's solid performance in target separation, depth, quick response and above all stability.
5 If you are in an area with good targets....deadly.
6. It absolutely performs like it's basic platform would suggest..........it loves gold.
7. A large number of people have this machine as their one "all around", "quick grab", fun machine. (This runs the gamut from very advanced detectorists, to people who make a living in the prospecting industry.)
8. Other machines that have tried to enter this "niche" have nowhere near the following the MXT has....for good reason...it's that good.

This machine walks the "Damned if you do/Damned if you don't line".....and comes out close to unscathed. Yup...One of the best machines of all time.

so ....are you also saying that those who are buying the high end full band spectrum machines wasting their money?

There is a significant advantage to multi-frequency machines. Besides, for a little more $$$ I tend to feel its worth it.
I have not used it on the beach but I'm also told it's a great beach machine as well.

You have to agree that the automatic ground balancing is a nice feature.

Not to take away anything from the M6 or MXT as they are probably the best machines that Whites makes.

I wouldn't say anyone buying a higher price machine is wasting their money, I wouldn't even say if anyone got a cheaper detector is wasting money because they all have their place heck I started with a low end machine because it was all I could afford at that time and had a blast with it.
I will say this if you did have an m6 or an mxt you would also know that they have an excellent ground tracking system as well.

So to answer the question do I think the mxt is the best machine ever made? No because there is no best any machine can be beat with a specialty machine in that area of hunting.

But to answer the question directly of is the mxt one of the best machines made? Absolutely I think with the years dedication since it's been out has well proven that.

Not at all! I wouldn't give up my V3 for anything! It all depends on what you enjoy to do and interact with. Looking at everything as either or is a huge misstep. AND is best for me. My dream setup is to have an MXT (as my second) and Tesoro Vaquero for backpacking!

For now....I'm absolutely estatic about my V3 as primary and only! (Main use.)

I agree ..... the MXT is a top notch machine! In fact, I liked it better than the V3.

Great machine ... no matter how you slice it. I prefer the Safari over the V3 hands down!

I read the English version. At least they knew how to write one without skipping half the details!
I gave the Minelab Safari five stars !!
