Is The Hobby Of Metal Detecting REALLY Expanding? No, IMHO!

I agree... although I have only been at it about 6 months and am still reltively new... I love this hobby! Its like fishin. Used to love fishin, until I moved to AZ... now the lakes etc, are too far (reckon I was spoiled where I used to live, lakes, rivers etc, were a 2 min drive)... anyways all that to say I got into this now. And am still as excited as I was on day one, ha ha. Still almost do the ol Happy Dance when I just get a nickel. Lol. Now, on the other hand, have two buddies who bought 700 dollar plus machines (mine is just a Silver uMax, but I like it still just fine).... they have gone wih me several times, then, with nothing more than clad, they have "faded" mostly. I co-erce them to join me, but its getting harder and harder... I think if they had found some jewelry or something of real value, they too could get hooked. But like ya'll say, its work soemtimes (although I think its too much fun to be called work, ha ha)... since beginning to understand my machine a bit more I have finally been hitting rings... although no real gold yet - thats ok. Have a few real silver... anyways, all that to say, yup, two of my buddys are fading from the hunting, as for me, still enjoy it immensely 6 mos later.
