Is the CTX3030 just a waterproof etrac?

Had a question for those who have put some time on the CTX3030. Aside from all the bells and whistles like GPS, how does the 3030 perform compaired to the etrac? Depth, target seperation, masking... I have an AT Pro for water hunting but would love to hear some feedback on the land capabilities of the CTX :)

There are a ton of threads on here that address this, so I'll be very brief. The CTX has better target separation because it has a faster processor. The addition of Target trace helps you "see" the iron and good targets simultaneously. Invaluable asset on any machine. It's like an ETRAC on steroids.

I have had my CTX in the water three times and it did really well, a bit chirpy but did well. As for dry land and the comparison to the E-trac, they have their similarities but after about 4 months of using it after 2 years of the E-trac, I think the CTX is similar but a whole lot more that is different. I feel I get slightly better depth, no scientific study, just my opinion. The great difference to me is the separation of target to iron. The E-trac is excellent in iron trashy areas but the CTX is just simply better! Easier to make decisions with the target trace and sizing, and the iron targets on the screen. The bad part to me is it is not a simple machine. There are a lot of programs/patterns on here to try, but it is like a car with a thousand features, it gets all wrapped around itself if too many are turned on and then the driver gets confused! I was the driver, so I turned off several of the features, then cranked the sensitivity up and suddenly everything got a lot quieter and the numbers and tones were accurate. Great depth on small coins. If you have an E-trac and are really happy with the results and are comfortable with it I would say stick with it, but if you want more features and a greater ability to program and modify tones, etc., then by all means try a CTX!

Send me an email and I'll give you the low-down. Had mince since it was released. If you are still in CoMo, we can meet up so you can check it out if you are interested in purchasing one in the future.

I am so happy with the ctx, I went and sold my etrac you need to take a ctx out for a spin and there is no question you will drool over it haha

Good thing it is waterproof:drool:

I too have a CTX from the first day they were released - I drove my E-Trac for 3 years and it never let me down - now it sits in the corner unless someone needs to use it. The 3030 is a lot easier to swing all day and has just more going for it all around - I love it!
