Is the Bandito any good ??

adam in cal

New member
I believe its the first Bandito, I would love to hear some talk about this machine. Is it good, where does it excell, good in iron trash or bad in Iron , and is it better than an exterra 30 .......Thanks for any help you can dish out ................. .... P.S. I have never used a tesoro so please don't tell me its just like a golden saber or something because I have no idea what a Tesoro can do ......Thanks a ton .....Adam

being good in dense iron trash. Truthfully, I dont know if they are really comparable to the x-30 in features or depth, but in the right situations, they can certainly hold their own....especially when you consider that they have a huge coil selection, while you have a choice of one coil with the x-30. I think it all boils down to what situation you are wanting to us it with.

Thanks, I would love more info it seems hard to come by. The X-30 is not great near the iron zones I normally hunt , plus the ground conditions vary wildly within the same sites , I was wondering if the bandito would fare better in heavy Iron midden areas . I use the sovereign aminly and was considering a better back up machine then the back up I have now. I currently run the X-30 as the back up unit and it has found a couple good things at sites I had previously hunted but it doesnt seem to like real trashy sites. (In fact it sputters hard in heavy junk/iron)

It is gonna be a little bit heavier than the 30. It wont have the tones or id that you are used to, with the 30. But, it will have a much richer tone quality, which allows you to differentiate between types of targets. I have never used the bandito, but did use the Pantera which is a cousin to the bandito. You certainly dont have anything to lose by switching. It would make a good backup, in my opinion(as if that means anything;))

Hi Adam, A friend of mine in South Georgia changed The early American history books with a find he made with one the original Banditos. Send me a PM if you would like the rest of the story. Little much to type here.

Hi, Tesoro metal detectors are very good detectors, as least mine is. i own a Tesoro sidewinder micromax (about $300+ when new.)a low end model not made any more. my got my Tesoro sidewinder micromax at a pawn shop for $55. i got in touch with the Tesoro company by e-mail, and they sent me an owners manual. i am thinking my next metal detector is going to be the "Tesoro vaquero". you can't go wrong using a Tesoro metal detector.
"good hunting",...

Hello Adam,

If you need a manual and/or field test for the original Bandido, send your request along with your name and address to heidi@tesoro.com. I will mail the information to you.
