Is tesoro going out the door!

I doubt it! They make excellent products - and have the best warranty in the industry.

Yes, my Tesoro goes out the door every time I go detecting. Why? Because after trying nearly everything else I've come to the conclusion that Tesoro makes exactly the type of detector that I enjoy. Simple and very effective! As for people coming up with these theories of Tesoro on the brink of disappearing, I agree with Mike, go away!

what they said,,,,,,

What is it with the Tesoro DOOMERS these days. They build a great product that pound for pound blows the doors off of the compitition with lighter units & a lifetime warrenty.

Will the tinfoil hat DOOMERS go somewhere else . . . . . go listen to Coast to Coast or something. :tesoro: RULES ! !

At least I dont think so.
They have a big market share, an established name, and a huge customer base happy with their products.
I doubt the collapse of the water detector side of the business will bring them to closing their doors.

It has been so long since they shipped a water detector I wonder if they are not releasing something new this spring.

Me 4 ! Go away:rage:

Hi Beachbandit, and welcome to the friendly Tesoro forum!

All kidding aside, there are a lot of friendly helpful folks here who have helped me a lot by sharing their knowledge.

Mike Hillis is a big one of those. And he's one of, if not the most knowledgeable when it comes to the Tesoro Golden or Fisher F5.

I think his response to your question is based on frustration because this subject has been beat to death on this forum. It probably didn't help matters that your first post on this forum was such a gossipy one.

When someone as respected as Mike posted what he did, I think others who felt the same way felt OK to pile on.

As a privately held company, I'm not privy to Tesoro's profit statements. Probably no one else here is either, so any uninformed speculation is just that. Uninformed speculation.

For what it's worth-the factory said that James left for illness and left his share with Vince. They said not to worry-still going strong.

I'm sorry to hear that, I hope it's nothing serious. James is first-class all the way, as is the entire Tesoro company.

In all fairness to poor beachbandit, he didn't start these rumors. And they didn't materialize out of thin air. It's not like someone said "I'm bored, I think I'll start a rumor about Tesoro going out of business..."

As I said in my earlier post, I have no inside source at Tesoro. So my speculation is like others here - uninformed.

Without rehashing everything, there have been things happen that makes questioning the long term viability of Tesoro at least somewhat plausible.

I was told by Christy at Tesoro that Vince Gifford is in charge of designing new products. I could be wrong here, but have any new products come out under Vince's watch that were not just updates of designs from when his dad was running company? Are Vince's engineering credentials strong enough to design a new high-performance, state-of-the-art detector? If so, why has it been so long since Tesoro has come out with a newly designed detector?

Please ! Make it Stop! :rage:

That's easily done, tab. You've got the power.

If the subject gets you that upset, just quit opening this thread.

Personally, I'd love to see Tesoro make it stop soon by bringing out a great new detector that will show their R&D is alive and well!:detecting:

Me 5 or is it 6 by now - I own an ETrac, Sovereign GT, Whites MXT and a Tesoro Vaquero. My "V" goes on all hunts and I wind up using it 90% of the time I'm out there.
Best detectors out there as far as I'm concerned!

Mike
