anyone run or has ran grey ghost or jolly rogers and upgraded? I will start by saying I am hearing impaired... most of the damage is at the human voice decibel. my mid range tones... I am running the E-trac and prefer corded phones. I used Koss headphones for a few years back in the day, then bought a pair of jolly rogers and could not believe the tone difference and what I could not hear so well in the Koss phones. well I have been running these Jolly rogers for over 10 years now ... are these still my best option at this point? is there a better pair tone quality wise that would be an upgrade from the Jolly Rogers?
just for fun today I dug out my backup Garrett headphones and went about the yard for a few minutes... I threw a few different coins on the surface and could not believe the tone difference... I could barely hear the nickel tone, and the silver dime and quarter did not vibrate like a high whistle ..just a higher tone. I know they are just a backup, but I would rather upgrade and use my jolly rogers as a backup so I don't miss anything.
thoughts? thanks...

I've been very pleased for a goodly number of years with Grey Ghost and Black Widow's. They still sound better then any remote ones I've tried or any my hunting buddies use. HH jim tn

I use Grey Ghost as well. Was using standard Fisher phones but the GG blows them out of the water as far as clarity and quietness (background hiss or hum gone). Cups are very comfy around ears and good job as far as blocking outside noise. I too have hearing loss from a canal defect in my left ear so have to rely on just the right side to hear the higher softer tones. Its funny they say when one sense is compromised another kicks on. I dont need glasses (cheaters for reading....) and when I went in the USAF they did a hearing test to which I almost got sent home. The audiologist was speechless when my right side could hear 175% of what most humans can detect. Took that stupid test three different times while closely monitored to see if I was cheating, nope, nailed it three times!! Now not so much.......😟

I too prefer corded phones. I have hearing issues, but found the Koss phones to be lacking. I had tried most all phones out there and finally found the original Ratphones to be the best for my hearing. I wore them for years and replaced the leather ear pads three times before everything else "bit the dust". I could not hear very clearly with the original Grey Ghost phones, but a dealer friend to me to try the Grey Ghost Platinums. These phones are without a doubt, the best sounding phones I have ever used. They are expensive, but worth every penny. Unfortunately, what sounds good for me might not meet your hearing needs. Good luck finding your phones.

about the glasses thing... I was the only blonde hair blued person in my family, they all had dark eyes and dark hair, they all wore glasses...I never did nor do I now... I'm 55 and do need cheaters for super close up... but no need for anything else... and as far as senses.. like your hearing , I had a nail enter my left eye (I have a central cornea scar)and almost lost it in the mid 90's...same time I was going through LEO hiring... my right eye compensated so much that my vision is still almost perfect today. funny how that works!

That could be the reason I gave up using the Exp II, I couldn’t hear the sound of silver any longer. I did find out I had a hearing problem. I used Koss for about ten years but had to switch when I bought the NOX because you need good water proof headphones if you go near or in water. I bought the white ones from a guy in California, that many folks recommended.
They work good but I am wondering if I should get a better pair and fire up the old Explorer II?
