Is a pin pointer (probe) a worth while tool ?

I have the DX-1. I feel they are VERY important, especially in parks where you want to find your target with as little digging and fuss as possible.

What everyone else said. Once you use one you will never go out without one. I use an Automax and and really like it. I've had mine for almost 2 years and have had no problems. Just remember a pinpointer isn't a digging tool or a prying tool.

You can buy a "Cen Tech" from Harbour Freight for less than $20.00 and it is as good or better than many of the name brand pinpointers. It looks and works very similar to the White's Bullseye II, but has a toggle switch instead of a push button.
