Iron masking and the F-75

I've tried 6&0 I could'nt tell any difference. Dankowski says use 6 disc. But I found know difference for the minnie balls I've dug. The ground I'm in is balancing at 54-58. I don't know if that makes a difference?

Well Mini balls will not be affected by any amount of Discrimination used ,as they are lead.

Hi

I am going to try your mono tone disc 6 method on the River Thames foreshore here in the UK its probably one of the most nail/iron infested sites you could find. See this great site http://thamesandfield.co.uk/

Don't bother, it'll give you a sore neck just like watching tennis....every beep you'll be looking at the screen.:yikes:

Hey up Dino, it sure can have the tennis effect that's for sure.
Still experimenting myself.
At the mo when i get a hit of any type i switch between various settings and angles of sweep as per ziphius 90 degree rotation, in fact i try every angle to see if the signal sweetens.
I am trying to get used to types of sound and any VDU readings.
If in doubt i just dig everything, problem is that not much ground is covered while i am doing this.
I figure time spent now will hopefully pay dividends in the future.
What settings are you using?
Thanks. Mart. Halifax. UK.

Hi Mart, I use 90-99 sens (I've got good soil in Norfolk), 0 disc, 2F and dig any two way signal over 16.

This may help you... from Rogers Forum (edited)

Thanks for that Dino.
On Saturday i was on a C S dig and tried 0 disc 2F, PF, sensitivity around 80.
Also disc on 6, 1 tone, PF, sensitivity 75 to 85.
I swapped between them over the same target, on iron both gave a similar response readings wise.
On both 2F and 1 tone there was a noticeable difference readings wise and sound wise on 2F for non ferrous targets.
It was quite difficult as there was a lot of singles coming in from bits of metal, also the ground had been heavily ploughed but not levelled.
Every time i hit a clump of turf or soil with the search coil it would sound off slightly, very distracting.
I also tried motion all metal and switched back to disc just to compare.
CS have dig on Monday 29Th and weather permitting i will be there and experiment a bit more.
Take care. Mart.

One tone definately gives a stronger sound on targets, but I find it too distracting on UK fields as there is just too much small iron.
If I were you I would stick to 2F for the low iron tone and dig all two way high signals over 16. You'll find most readings of over 85 are large, deep iron.
PF and BC are not modes I use in the UK, I always try to use JE as it is full gain and sharper on smaller targets and turn the sens down if it is too chattery.
On ploughed fields I use DE and up the sens are far as I can just to stop chatter over the troughs.
The F75 does tend to false on hitting clumps (75-85) but so will a lot of machines if you are running them hot.
Good luck on the 29th.
Dino

PF should not sound off. It's for plowed field's. Keep the coil raised above the dirt just slightly. And try not hit it with the coil. I think you'll see the difference. I've had it sound off in grass and weads if you bang it into it. It's hard to keep it elevated sometimes. But it does help. No matter witch mode you are using. It will still do it.

I haven't used PF mode much..But did read alot over on rogers relics..He praised the PF mode in his ground in the UK...I Just would like to Detect in low minerals soneday...for me
mid 70's. is average..
