Iron Mask?

I was on my first cup of coffee and not awake yet.......
I find that with dirt, well compacted dirt works the best (very little air in it) and when the moisture content is uniform. Moister dirt gives better depths as long as the moisture level is consistent rather than layered. When the dirt is pretty much saturated I can bump up the sensitivity almost another hour...the peaking spot has come up a little. Otherwise, the peak hangs around the same setting that I mentioned previously. This seems to hold true in different kinds of dirt around here. In looser more airy dirt, all metal gets the edge by quite a bit for depth. BBS does not like the dirt loose or airy.

Perhaps there is a parallel (sp?) between the texture and compactness of sand and dirt. Perhaps the particular granulation and mineral content of soil or sand at different locations would prevent setting any hard and fast rules.

Due to all the variables in gorund conditions I don't think anything can be set in stone. All settings are area dependent! Just as you mentioned about in ground that has more air in it needing to be hunting in ALL Metal to get the most depth vs the opposite being true of very compacted moist ground. It's all about the Ground :) :) :) :)
