A strap wrench works best. Heating it helps somewhat. I cussed when mine was so tight when I first charged it. The second time I charged it, and every time since it has been hard to turn. They don't have to be overtightened to be hard to remove just like my other pinpointers.I tried to remove the cap to see the charge port, but it won’t budge.
Thanks! I will have to give it a try. But, I am half wondering if I should wait and see what XP says before trying to take it off. If I mess up the threads on the pinpointer forcing the cap off, I am worried XP may not cover it.A strap wrench works best. Heating it helps somewhat. Pinpoint button is your friend as is the depth meter. I'm sure the two huge targets would show a depth of one or two inches and pinpoint would be quite wide.. If you dig like 5 inches and it is not there it is a large target.I dug to 14 inches for an electrical outlet cover plate, and over 12 inches for a crushed pop can a couple times.
I am not sure of all of the differences. We might need to start a new thread in the Deus forum. I do know that all of your custom programs will be lost when updating from V 0.6 to V 0.71. Theoretically that bug was fixed in the new version so when the next new version comes out (may be soon) your saved programs won’t lost. In the meantime, if you have a saved program now, write down the settings before you update.Hay geology hound, mine are both on 0.6 too but Im afraid to mess with them, I dont have a clue how to update them. What is the differance in operation ??
I have not run across any documentation of a depth meter on the Deus 2. Where would I find that? When pinpointing, I do get a higher/louder sound over shallower targets. But, short of more experience, I don’t know the depth. With the program I’m using to learn the basics of this detector, I do understand shallower coins give more of a pop sound and deeper coins give more of a zip zip sound. If I’m still getting a good signal well off the ground, it’s probably a large target. If the pinpoint signal fades relatively rapidly when lifting the coil, then it’s more likely a smaller target.Pinpoint button is your friend as is the depth meter. Fanger, I have not heard of a depth meter on the D2. I did like the one on the XLT. Yes, I understand the strength/pitch during pinpointing is an indicator of depth. The sound quality of the target can also be an indicator of depth – see my last post with picketwire.I wasnt sure but as it is turns out to be a big improvment over what I have been doing. I went back to tinker with the audio adjustments just now and found 2 fifty cal round balls and an eye button in about twenty minutes in the spot where nothing is, I will probably run it like this for a littlewhile till I get used to it. Does it have a deph meter that tells how many inches deep the target is??? The way Im using it I think the weaker the sound the deeper the target, my mxt pro told the depth in inches and was pretty accurate most times.

See page 29 of the manual at the top. On the standard screen is what they call profile, one side ferrous the other non ferrous. On the Deus it is shaped like a horseshoe. On the D2 it looks like two fat upside-down Ls.I have not run across any documentation of a depth meter on the Deus 2. Where would I find that?
The euro coin design has nothing to do with it. I have a Deus not the D2. With the x35 coil I have 5 different main frequencies, from 4 to 25 or so. If the VIDs are not "normalized" each different frequency will have different numbers. It is the same on my Impact with only 3 different frequencies. In general, 4khz has lower numbers for a dime than the higher frequencies. For instance, on the Deus, a dime at 4khz reads 75 and at 18khz it reads 91, a nickel reads 37 at 4khz and 64 at 18khz. If the numbers are "normalized", all the frequencies use 18khz numbers. They are not normalized to the MXT's frequency and use a completely different scale.. On the Impact, there are two different scales for ferrous, one from 0 to about 14, the other from 0 to 40. The Deus begins iron VID at -6.4 and goes to approx 10. On the MXT, ferrous starts at -95 and goes to 0. That is why numbers vary on the same target. Expecting the same numbers from different detectors is wishful thinking. Learn the numbers on the program you are in and don't expect them to be the same as your MXT.the euro coin design may explain why my numbers are higher on the sam targets on the d2 than the mxt.
