agree that it might be deeper in certain enviroments but not all. But for me, definately not in the surf when the waves hit the coil. Even after ground balancing you still need to raise the disc to compensate, After that, there goes the depth. I have been told that the Infinium can be ground balanced for this. I haven't been able to conquer this, have you ???
Thanks, Darryl
hi Darryl,
I don't know how well you know your Infinium but here is how to GB in the saltwater and wet sand.
First make sure the battery compartment cover is tightened correctly.
Make sure the coil cable is not able to wave about in the water. Make sure the coil and HP connectors are clean and tightened up firm.
GB in slow or fast track at the water line with DISC AT ZERO and threshold at clearly audible, Do any frequency adjust before you GB.
When you have the GB as best you can get it reset mode to LOCK then turn the disc up to about 3 (to reduce the salt effect) and move out into the water and recheck the GB.
If it is still not right then rest the disc to zero (Important) mode to Fast or slow and redo the GB, be sure not to bring the coil out of the water while doing this, then again set the disc to around 3 (try any setting between zero and three) but if you go higher than 4 depth will be reduced on gold items.
If the machine is still a bit unstable then try running it in fast track.
Remember that whenever you GB you must set the disc to zero first..
If none of this works then maybe a prayer might help.
Also when ground balancing in the water try to do it in calm water or minimal wave action.
