Indian head cents #999 and 1,000

Hit a spot in the shade of the NY State Capital building yesterday morning hoping to find those elusive two final indian head cents to reach the 1,000 mark. First good target was a very deep 1909 wheat cent. A while later I get a very mixed hit but it was nice and deep so I dug it. It was a 1898 indian head cent down about 8", below some roots and close to an old square iron nail. Next target was a deep brass key. Maybe 1/2 hour passed when I got another deep, mixed signal. Dug down about about 8-9 inches and pulled out #1000. It was a nice 1900. Again, an iron nail was masking the signal. Was glad to hit that milestone. I added a photo of number 1 dug over 32 1/2 years ago. I'm sick of park hunting. Too bad most the farm fields have been planted now.

Congrats, that 1000 is a pretty good milestone. That's an average of 30+ Indians a year. For a 3 decade time span that"s pretty outstanding I would say. HH jim tn
