In the hunt

White's was gracious to give me a certificate so I splurged on a small DD coil. I took it out for my first two hunts of the season after work to try out. I went to my town square that is very trashy and been hunted by many a detector and by me for 20 years. Pulled out 5 silvers and 3 wheat cents along with over $5 clad. Found was a 1939 quarter, 1943 dime 1945-D nickel, 1903-O dime and a silver ring. It's opened up this park like it was never hunted. 90% of the clad was dark, in the ground for a few years. I was IDing coins at the 5-1/2 inch depth area with factory settings. I love my little shooter.

On another note, I was asked to clear out some lead from a corn field so with five others we tried to do our best. I didn't find the most ( tired out after 5 hours ) so here are pics of the best from my pouch. I rescued many bullets, some button backs and a 1839 Seated Half Dime. :surprised: I hope to be invited back soon before planting to try again.

Nice finds, you said a small DD so I guess it was the 4x6. Rob

Yes, thats the one, and I love it.

Congratulations Steve, that fingernail sized silver is a sweetie. Maybe this will be MY year for a Half Dime.
