In my puny condition it took me two days to recuperate from this hunt. Found a ton of clad - about $10 to $11 worth including a chewed up Susan B. tha

Went across the river to a school out in the boonies that I haven't been to in years. Didn't spend a whole lot of time in the usual places as I was headed out to the football/soccer field where I spied an old concession stand sitting over at the side. And lo and behold there was a wooden platform in front of it for customers to stand on and it brought back memories of the last one I hunted under years back at another school. And yep you guessed it - no one had muscled this thing up and hunted under it. It was solid hard wood and about 10x6 feet in size and weighed a ton. Took everything my old body had to hoist that puppy up and lean it against the stand. I could see a lot of coins laying at the base of the weeds and grass under the platform. Most of these coins came from under the platform. Many had laid there for years and sunk into the ground a bit. After my pitiful hunts of late this was a real bonanza for me and I was worn out when I finished. I will be going back as there are several areas I didn't get to but it's quite a drive over there..

Very nice!! my haul today after five and a half hours was .77 clad:(

Thats true. If I am out there hunting I am happy:) Bill I got my new pro pointer a week ago friday and I cant say enough about it. I left it on the back of my truck this morning and drove off. Half way home I realized what I did went back and found it in the parking lot and it worked fine. This evening I was getting out of my truck and dropped it in the parking lot and it still works fine. I have me a new little buddy!

That concession stand sounds like a great find. Beats my miserable day yesterday. Went to 4 places that I've had on my mental list of places to try. came up with 87 cents. Waaaaah! Just on the edge of town there is a field that used to be an outdoor theatre. It's mostly a corn field now, but out in the middle is the old run down concession stand still there. What do you think? Gotta fine out who owns that field.

Well I came in with 57 cents worth...I reckon it's better than nothin'..WTG Uncle Willy!

Yeah pounce on that concession stand, even under it if it sits up off the ground on wheels or whatever, then hit the area around it and the path spectators take to get to and from it. If this place was an old drive-in movie I'd hit it all especially the ramps the cars parked on. Some of these movies had a tot lot up front by the screen for the kiddees to play in. You might check for remnants of one of those. Also around the ticket booths. I ran into a fella and his wife years ago who hunted drive-in movies and he had a jeweler's tray full of rings that would knock your eyes out - all recovered in drive-in movies. Some years back I published an article just on that subject.

This old guy told me that a lot of the rings he found were the result of a lovers spat when the lady would get mad and pull her rings off and toss them out the window and then be unable to find them after she cooled down. Silver should abound as drive-ins went out of style about the same time silver did. I wish you luck if you give it a whirl.

Why didn't you write an article about that other hunt? That is one of my favorite detecting stories from this forum. Come on Bill. One more for old times sake. (Yes, I know the money sucks!)

Chris

PS Nice hunt old timer!!!!!!!!!

You mean I didn't write an article about that episode. I think I mentioned it in other articles. After a few hundred articles who can remember. :) I still remember that like it happened yesterday. Remembering stuff on this forum after running it, and first the Garrett Classroom, for 14 years is a little tougher.

Glad you had a good outing, Bill. I would be happy to have a day like that. Hope you find more clad and maybe some rings when you get back out there again.
