Important information regarding the recent update.....

Each of you should be very proud of the fact that your input has been heard, and some of your suggestions have been implemented into this recent update. To quote Nenad Lonic of Minelab....."The CTX 3030 user community has made some excellent suggestions for new features and additions to this great detector, and some of them may become reality in future software updates, so keep the great ideas coming".

Here are some highlights...................as taken from Nenad's blog on Minelab's TreasureTalk

All the current features, options, menu layout and functionality have remained the same - the new features simply provide more options.

Salt being conductive is essentially like a big target, but Minelab

Just keeps better and better. I wonder if those guys who bought and sold their 3030's are kicking themselves in the rear end yet?

The decision to buy a CTX can be difficult as it is a very expensive detector. However I must say that buying one was the right decision. What other detector on the market today can be upgraded and modified AFTER you buy one? Minelab has shown that it is in a league of its own. Glad to be a CTX3030 owner.

I'm wondering if you can use salt water in a park if you get alot of falsing while running A +3 or higher manual settings? My ground has alot of black sand in the parks and on the beaches as well.

I'm gonna try it to see.

I'm not......To me the performance and depth was not that much better in my soil. Yes the TID was a bit more stable which I think gives the idea that it was deeper but I dont know if it was deeper of just had a more stable TID. I didn't like the fact that there was not going to be a sunray probe available, or the thought of not much, or any hope of any aftermarket coils, not to mention the price of the other coils or lower rods. Now I hear they are only going to sell the standard package. I do think its a good detector but is it worth $900 more than an Etrac? Not to me.

Isn't that kind of like saying you have two race cars that go the same speed but one handles better than the other? In the end, the better handling car would have the advantage correct?

Just a thought

Yes in your scenario the better handling car would have the advantage. I seen you had yours up for sale. Have you changed your mind?

No still for sale. I'm only selling because our hunting season, at least for deep coins, is about over. I can't see having $1700 sitting in the closet until April so I'll sell and buy another come next season. I did it often with my E-Trac as well. Owned 4 different E-Tracs LOL. I'll keep my AT Pro for my tot lot hunting which I can do all winter long, but believe me I'll be buying another CTX come spring time. That is unless something better comes out between now and then.

As far as the comment about a more stable TID. I just feel a more stable TID can result in choosing to recover deeper targets. So in fact would result in going deeper. Choosing to take a chance on deeper iffy signals because of a better/more accurate TID would give you more depth. Perhaps better described as more usable depth?

WELL DONE ML !!!!! This is why I bought the 3030:minelab::yo:

Machine performs great, updates are usefull, pricetag has been forgotten.
I really enjoy my tecting and this piece of kit makes you even smile at a pulltab!

Well Bill, without arguement, you are the man. But hear me out. Sure the 3030 is more expensive, but when you want to add another detector
for the water, the CTX $2,499.00 msrp is cheaper than an Etrac $1,549.00 msrp and an Excall $1,349.00 msrp. Not only that, but you would have to learn another detector and buy accessories for two machines.

I used a Etrac and didnt like the extra weight with the sunprobe, especially on all day hunts.

I did go head to head with 2 other Etrac owners who had hunted with them for years, and the CTX smoked them. Even when I showed them
where the target was, their machine could'nt pick it up where the CTX just screamed loud and clear.

I believe we are all just learning the capabilities of the 3030, and the sky is the limit. With almost 500 hours on the machine, I'm still learning
something new everyday, and I'm glad that I'm an owner of a 3030.

We all have our opinions, and that's all they are, opinions. I wish you the best of luck with your Etrac.

vanbibr you have no doubt put a lot more hours in on the 3030 then I did. I think one of the most important things is to learn your machine. Who knows I may end up buying another one some day......;o)

I agree the hunting I have done at the beach has been a blast.

I never did the first update as I hadn't signed in and cant remember what the first Update did, but I did them both tonight and wasn't a problem as I was Reading all the different post on it and where some were having a problem, so it made it easy to do. I want to thank Digger and others for all the good info.
