I just went out for a short hunt and gave the headphone cord a slow careful pull in an attempt to stretch it out. Unless I'm losing my mind, (could be), when I set the unit down to dig it no longer slipped off my head. Anybody else try it?

No your not loosing your mind. I have used the AT heavily for 3 & 1/2 months now and no longer have any problem with the headphones being pulled off. It does stretch over time and like an old telephone cord the wire coils loose some of their elasticity.

Back light display, larger display, 14' coil for the woods....boost mode would be cool, but its diggin' in just fine now. The only real problem i'm having right now is with the headphones..like everyone else...but i'm waiting on ups and that should be fixed!!

Yeah U guys have opened up my mind box. I would like a back lit display, larger display, longer headphone chord, stand extention.arm extention, a clock on the display would be forgiving, a tilted control box to your desire, and a boost mode "move over rover" Mode selection buttons different, camlocks? Can some one tell me how many other model brands have back light on the display for around the same dollar price as the ATPro?

Luke, I hear ya screaming...just mere suggestions man ease up... :) Most of the suggestions being made are not earth moving ones and some others would certainly add to the cost....However, I for one would not mind throwing down a few more coins for a few of the simpler things that have been mentioned or will be just fine with the machine I have now. Just playing kick the can, that's all.

Like I said earlier, I love my AT Pro. I think it was an absolute bargain and a great purchase. That said, here is a list of things (from this thread) that maybe Garrett will put into the AT Pro V2.??..I am also going to take a wild guess at the additional cost for these features..

1. Adjustable arm cuff ($10)
2. Longer headphone cable ($2)
3. Backlight for display, and button to operate it ($5)\
4. Clock ($2)
5. Relocate headphone jack ($10)

So, for less than $30, Garrett could make changes that would answer most of the wishes of AT Pro users. I doubt if we can get different cable connectors without losing the underwater ability of the machine. The connections need to be water proof. Things like wireless headphones and larger coils could be sold as options. A bigger VDI screen could be part of redesigning the box to include a clock, backlight, etc.

Of course, there are ways to do some of these improvements yourself. A stick on clock costs less than five bucks, the Garrett Gizmo extends the arm cuff for $40. Garrett is offering an adapter to allow use of other headphones, and easier connect/disconnect ability. ($40). Even so, I'd love to see an AT Pro V2, especially if they include a boost mode, cam locks or other features mentioned in this thread.

The problem I have is the balance. It is nose heavy.
By moving the batter pack and the headphone plug to under/in back of the arm cup would solve a number of complaints. Having a water tight screw on plug as it is now and a regular 1/4" plug side by side with each plug having a water tight cap to screw on when not in use.
Thanks for reading and Happy Trails....Z

a bright backlight so i can read everything
I don't have my AT PRO anymore but I will again in the future,

this is what I will like to see;
1.- a back light for the LCD display,
2.- rechargeable battery pack and charger and battery pack for alkaline's also
3.- include the adapter for aftermarket earphones

I don't care about wireless earphones.
that's it for me.

As long as we are dreaming, how about a short range bluetooth link between the Propointer and At Pro so if you forget the propointer and walk more than ten feet away, both PP and ATP will start beeping the alarm.

Yeh been doing that for years with my Garrett headphones...you were just one of the few smart persons that figured that out...(to stretch it out).

Others seem a bit slow to figure that out...! Which should one do? Complain ALOT on the forum...or stretch out my head phone cord?

Cudo's to you...

Alan

Stretch the cord out Bobbie and it will be fine.

All of the suggestions in this thread are great starting points for V2. I would be surprised if Garrett had not considered most of them during the R&D phase of this machine's development. I do not know alot about electronics, but a backlit screen would probably put a severe load on the batteries. My AT Pro does not arrive until next week, but when it does, I will no doubt start compiling my own wish list. As I prepare that list, I will also start planning the appropriate solutions. I have seen some very interesting Mods on this and other forums.

i think a heads up display glasses with everything on the detector's display on them so would not have to keep looking down.
