OK, I read another post on here that got me to thinking...

First off I love my AT PRO, but just for conversations sake, what things would you change on the AT PRO? Or if you had a chance to give some input on a AT PRO SE (special edition) to those lurkers that matter. Not aftermarket but from the manufacturer, What would it be?

1) Would be to make an adjustable arm cuff ie. longer length on forearm shaft and three or four options for arm cuff placement. (easily done, can't believe that one slipped by 'em..lol)

2) Larger VDI, tilted in a manner it would be easier to view

And a couple nitpick but not necessity ideas...

Wireless headphones!! With all the technology today I have no idea why any of these detectors for that matter are still wired to the headphones...I hate the wire!

Invent or come up with a lightweight non cumbersome solution to brace the machine up right once sat down. I have seen some of these made out of PVC but would like to see something retractable and slightly less obtrusive maybe..

Here's what I'd love to see:

A boost mode like the F75 LTD/SE.

A larger TID display, there's a lot of great info on the display but it's difficult to see a lot of it, the depth meter is great!

The headphone cable is an abomination (no idea why it's so short, but it SUCKS!). Wireless would be nice, but just a normal length cable like other detector phones would be a great start.

And of course a longer length forearm shaft would make the AT a lot more fun (and comfortable) to hunt with. Lighter is always better too :)

I Agree with the need for larger number display and longer shaft forearm adjustment. Also the socket for the ear phones is hard to use.

I would add, for me anyway, a real time clock located on the control as I really loose track of time when I am in MD ZONE.

I too agree with the assumption that Garrett follows this forum. So I say Thank You for the AT Pro!! I love it.

Things I would like to see .....

1) adjustable arm cuff that could be extended LONGER

2) LONGER headphone cable adequate for adults and adequate to be able to put the detector down while digging

3) LONGER coil calbe so that the AT Pro could be belt or chest mounted

4) Extensions made for both the coil cable AND the headphone cable for those wanting longer cables

5) Chest and waist accesories for optional ways of mounting the AT PRo

6) Larger numbers on the contol box for an easier read

7) Accessory Coils made SPECIFICALLY for the AT Pro to use that will flatter this wonderful machine ....not just rebadged older coils that they made work for it .......

Since the Garrett machines have propriatary connectors for their detector , the VERY LEAST they could do would be to offer waterproof extensions for both the coil cable and the headphone cable .....and HAVE IT ALREADY MADE so that customers don't have to deal with this LONG WAIT for much needed products ...... KUDO'S for the electronics and controls on the AT Pro , but a huge let down with the Ergonomics end of it ...... LONGER is the operative word here .....So they could call it the " AT Pro Extended " ........Jim

I wish the head phone cord was longer, when I dig a target, I slip the machine off my arm and set it a side, when I move to dig, the machine tips over, this will change when the head phone cord stretches and it will, but everything is good, the little plug to cover over the head phone jack is a nuisance, too and will be cut off and tape to the shaft

Very good suggestions, keep 'em coming I'm sure "somebody" is taking this in and appreciating it in one way or another...

I love my AT Pro but..............the headphone wire is much to short and I am a 5'1" lady. Plus the jacks where the head phones and coil wire are very awkward to manuever the connector into........I have small fingers and find it difficult, what about you guys?..........little difficult with big fingers?

I agree with all the things suggested. The first few times I used my AT Pro, it just killed my elbow. Very much aggravated a tennis elbow condition. I ended up ordering a Gizmo and the difference is amazing. No more pain. There is no reason why Garrett can't make the cuff adjustable. The headphone jack location is so bad, that it makes me wonder how they could have put it there in the first place. A back light for the display for be a nice addition too. Other than those things, I love the machine. It is a fantastic detector and I am happy with my purchase.

Let me just say that I am very happy with the stock arm cuff. All the other suggestions are good though...

We need a three frequency unit to be able to handle hot rocks and the ocean water. Also increase the sensitivity and depth to small gold items when the ground balance is in the 10 to 20 range.

Apart from the back light and cuff extension already mentioned above, I would like to see the mode selection split up into different buttons. I mainly hunt in Pro Custom and Zero modes. Coins are useless to me (different coins here) and Standard is a waste of time. So instead of having to cycle through all the modes each time I want to change from Zero back to Custom, it would be good to just hit a button for the mode wanted.

As already stated, the headphone and cable connectors are brutal. Probably the least user friendly I've used in 40+ years of detecting. And I honestly cannot believe that somebody at Garrett didn't notice that the headphone cable is at least 8 inches too short. It makes you wonder how much field testing actually takes place when something as simple as that gets overlooked. Other than that, they made a fine, moderately priced, do it all unit. Other companies should follow suit.

I just went out for a short hunt and gave the headphone cord a slow careful pull in an attempt to stretch it out. Unless I'm losing my mind, (could be), when I set the unit down to dig it no longer slipped off my head. Anybody else try it?

The mounts for the coil and the head phones are just a bear. If you have fat fingers you are almost not going to hook them up. The headphone cord is way to short.:beers:

This is the most beat up question and comment that I have read on the ATPro.Personally I think Alot of U are a bunch of pussicats who want to complain for a 500 dollar machine thats comes close in performance to 1000 dollar machine. The head phone and coil connection are difficult to connect , but I think thats the way Garrett made it for protection against everyday use(The connections are kinda tucked back in there ) The head phone cable lenght is a joke to me. The Gizmo fixes the extention . If U want all these changes on the ATPro, then I hope Garrett will listen . And I know they are .Proclamation is the Key here. But I still say some Of U people are crybabys about the ATPro and are suckin hind tit with you complaints.

There is a difference between complaining and making suggestions. 72Inchkid, if you read the posts you would find the posters are happy with the AT but nothing in life is perfect and there can always be some improvements made. ATPro V2 maybe?

Also the posters are aware that it is only a mid range machine, most of the comments like longer headphone cable, arm rest extenstion etc are not expensive changes and would only add a few dollars to the price. I reckon its a great thread because if Garrett want to know what their customers want they can read threads like this and get good feedback. Of course not every suggestion would make V.2 but some of them will and that is good enough for me.

Gee, I read that most everyone said the loved their ATPro's. Someone asked for suggestions to make it better and that is what they are offering. Even you said the length on the cable is bad so are you "suckin hind tit" with your comment too?

I love my pro but hate the connector because it is difficult to get screwed on. If it is not on tightly you will get a lot of falsing. I have a small head and the headphones easily fall off all the time. I would like to be able to use different headphones but at the moment I can't. When the adapter comes out, I will buy it to take care of that problem. I too do not think the headphone cord is long enough but then again when I get the adapter, that problem will be solved as well.
