I haven't been active for awhile, but I guess you already know that. I hunted very little last year as I was playing golf. I will see how this year goes..........I hope to detect more and play golf less. I did get out yesterday and had to turn the V3i over and read how to ground balance. Yep it has been awhile. I decided to go back to a private hunting spot I have had for a few years now. It is a very old church picnic area which is now a horse pasture. Here is a pic of the place:

I have found some really nice finds here in past hunts. This is a little gem I found last year at the picnic site:

I hunted the site yesterday for a couple hours and then the rain brought a stop to my hunt. Hope to get back early next week as the weather is supposed to improve. I did find a couple keepers before I got rained out. Here they are: HH all !

I dont think that I would be able to sleep, let alone leave that spot after finding those coins. I would hunt it every day until I found nothing for a week.

That can be problematic with long grass. I try to hit those places after a good freeze or two which causes the grass and weeds to lay down closer to the ground. Every inch you have to hold the coil above the ground is an inch of loss depth in the ground. With the V3i I run the D2 coil which gives me the most depth. I also run the detector very hot on settings with Magic's basic program. I run sensitivity, all metal, and disc. as high as I can get by with. The site shown in the pic has no power lines close and the ground is not a problem. Go slow and overlap. I like to go back over ground like this from different angles as sometime the grass depresses better from one angle than another. If you can get someone to bush hog the area even better. Good Luck.
