What would you do looking at the first two pictures?? And then after careful exhumation of the coin find out its a blankety blank aluminum token!!!!! Size of a silver dollar too....... mumph.
Turns out it is collectable and was made in 1996: Rang up 88-89 on F75 and 4-5” down

Well,it works both ways..just a few weeks back dug a deep copper signal,I could see the outer edge was the same size as a large cent but upon cleaning it I found it was just a homemade washer... there have been times I thought I dug a merc or barber and it turned out to be Spanish silver...

I think that has happened to us all to one extent or another at some point detecting,
If it hasn’t you haven’t detected long enough. 😁
Good recovery and may your next one be real silver. 👍🏻

But a reeded edge 🧐??? Ends up it does have some collector value, but man I wish they wouldn’t make these things to look like old money down a hole.....

Looks like the guy on the front is laughing at you. That ain't funny. When you do find your next Walker, you can put this behind you. With the reeded edge it's still a nice find.

Want a real high and then a real low. Dug a plug and i could see a YELLOW reeded rim of a coin. With trembling fingers i carefully extracted the coin from the dirt. Carefully got enough of the dirt off the coin to discover it was a gold plated quarter. Why Me Lord.

Well... At least it wasn't a glittering Gold Publishers Clearing house coin made of aluminum, will the heraldic eagle and all.

Or... the Eagle Claw round emblem with all the looks of encrusted gold coin found nearly 10 inches under and next to entrance post lantern at 1909 park.

Grrrr!!!

Compared the token to an actual silver dollar the other day. Its maybe a 1/64” larger in diameter and lighter cuz of the aluminum. Whoever designed these things needs to face a tribunal in metal detector court!!!
