I'd like to hear from people with considerable time on BOTH the Etrac and CTX 3030

arm strap.

You might be missing some leverage benefits by using the arm strap but I took mine off when I bought my first ctx .....and have never put in back on. I don't seem to miss it.

I'm the opposite. I always use the arm-strap regardless what brand I'm using. It doesn't have to be tight, but it makes the detector more of an extension of my arm instead of something I'm holding in my hand. I can see why you would feel a difference though, the E-Trac was soo front heavy that it would pull the cuff up to your arm. The CTX is much better balanced and would probably wobble is you only used your hand.

I actually think the angle is weird with the Etrac and the strap. I still have the strap on mine but I rest my arm on top of it rather than in the cuff.

I HAVE BOTH and use both machines. The CTX is a great machine. But if I think for a minute there is silver close I will grab my E-Trac. I like the E-Trac response to a silver target better than the CTX. That being said it is more of a me thing than machines. If you hunt swimming areas or beachs by all means in my opinion the CTX wins hands down. If you are not hunting places that gold is not your objective then the E-Trac is as good as any machine. Again this is my opinion from my experiences. HH :minelab:
