I know you find a ton of stuff and have been amazed by your posts...and I am sure in the near future you hopefully will give me some great answers as I ask questions....but honestly timewise...I gave it my all last year and I know you have found a ton more but it took me close to or probably over 500 hours in the field to clear $750 in clad. Silver coins were a failure for me at 12 with the dfx... Jewelry did fine with gold and silver pieces...My challenge to myself now is to make the se pay for itself within a year...if necessary the dfx will help! So time wise once we get rolling here I hit it pretty hard...just have not been hitting it deep! A few more weeks and a couple more trades..should set me up...still watching for a great deal on a preferably new 8" coil.... and then maybe a 5"...should do it....

i have to say that my clad count went WAY DOWN after i started using the explorer...now weather it is that the explorer doesnt like clad all that much or what im not sure but i know my silver finds and older coin finds went thru the roof so if you are expecting the SE to pay for it self in clad for a year im not sure thats gonna happen but maybe the old silver it seems to love finding might do it....just a thought......when im after clad i go to one of my other machines...i have a garrett that is KILLER on clad to 6inches but not much else tho ...so it might be that the dfx might have to make the payments on the SE for the first year if ya want to get it paid for by then...but heck as i see it you have a choice of SILVER or CLAD either way you have the machines now to COVER ALL THE BASES:cheers:

The silver eluded you not because of your choice of detectors but where and how you hunted. Stop and think for a second.................take the $750 found with the DFX........it will buy almost 750 silver dimes.......more silver dimes than most hunters, regardless of brand will find in 10 years.

Hey Greg: I think everyone on this forum is interested in how you like your SE and want to hear and see some of the things you find with it. Good luck with your SE.....Jack

Good point on the dfx being a great back up to suck up the clad to pay for the se. I am going to use the se as you mentioned...going right over the exact older spots I hit with the dfxand no signal response....I am sure there will be fresh drops also to help pay for the machine. Larry I also agree with you...the dfx has a very fast sharp response and works well in the trash. Honestly Larry...I just got tired across the different forums of looking at the Explorer finds compared to the dfx...not that I am getting rid of the dfx...but I have received programs to try with the se and tips...some also have said I should continue to find the clad...so I guess the only way to see...is as soon as the snow melts to get out there!:detecting: Thanks guys!:beers:

Thanks Jack...as soon as I can get a few consistent hunts in will let you know. We have had snow fall 25 times since December...normally only 8 at this point of the year here. The ground is frozen even after it does rain beyond 2 inches. I will get out there believe me! Looking forward to March...

I don't agree you can't find as much clad , I just think most people get "silver" fever and start to ignore surface targets more with the Explorer because they can find the deep silvers with such accuracy. If you are "digging everything" then the only thing holding you back from getting the same amount of clad is your ground coverage, it will take a little longer just becuase of swing speed.

Hi Gregg, I won;t say anything bad about the other forum, but it is owned by whites and is designed to promote whites products. I have posted some silver finds there I found with my exII. The moderator said you can post any finds, but if its not a whites brand , then just don't say what brand it is.Its their forum and their rules , so I can respect that.I don't agree with slamming someone because of their choice of detector though. I don't know what post you are referring to , it must have been removed before I saw it, and probably for the best for everyone involved. I found 18 silver coins in jan. 08, with the M6 and ex II. Most with the exII. Like someone above said ,the clad count is way down with the exp., but the silver and deep older coins is up. I think this has a lot to do with the sites I 'm using the exII at. I'm redoing some of my old sites that have been cleaned of most of the clad, and also looking for older sites that may increase the chance of silver.I had silver in 10 out of eleven hunts in jan. , 9 hunts in a row. That is waaayyy out of the norm for me , and I attribute that mostly to the EX II. My last four hunts haven't produced any silver though, so its time to look for fresh grounds. ....HH ....Rich

:razz:Jeez Greg, maybe its because you were the mouthpiece for DFX users the internet over!

Long time no see! Good to see you have come over to "The Darkside" :starwars: of detectors! I've seen your postings over at the the crybaby forum and was waiting till I got a chance to harrass you about your purchase. Congrats! Now maybe you can get out and hit some of those relics like I dig

Gregg,

Take it with a grain of salt bud, just envy of what you have and will acomplish with your skills and your new coin hunting magnet.HH

deleted from the general discussion forum there. But the moderator left it up for 24 hours...Basically it was put up by a forum member telling the other members I had left the forum...or more or less telling me to leave the forum because I bought an se! Odd because I still own a dfx also...Most of the responses were negative...but just before deleted some did also mention nothing wrong with owning two brands...,,,I received a message on this forum about it..and did not bother responding before it was deleted...

Dave not many relics around here...but if the explorer goes past the 6 to 7 inch mark it will leave me....>>>>>>:clapping:

Thanks...getting another fresh 5 to 9 inches of snow...this is frustrating...but gives me time to make trades and sell things...that is going very well... We usually have 9snowfalls by this time of year...add today and tomorrow at 26! I got 6 hunts in with dfx in Jan, 1 with se.... Zero in february....Already falling behind last years pace..but my goal this year is to double my silver coin count...only had 12 last year...Will use the dfx for the tot lots and cleaning up the clad...the se is going over those worn out spots the dfx already missed at...:detecting:

Greg, if your ever planning a trip to the Hampton Roads VA area or OBX NC area, get with me and we can put that Explorer through its paces in relic fields.
