I got tired of my scoop's lips wearing out/bending/flexing etc . So I had an idea that a digging edge like a shovel was needed. That would be tempered steel.
I had a cheap shovel from Harbor Freight that was about the right size. Cut off the blade (relatively easy) tried to drill holes (near impossible) used a plasma cutter to burn holes and rebolted it to my scoop. Painted it with appliance epoxy paint and I plan on doing rust maintenance but that's ok.
Just in time for 4th July weekend. Good luck everybody.

Take that shovel back to Harbor Freight and tell them it was defective! Tell them you left it stuck in the ground one night, and the worms ate the end off of it!
