I wanted my scoop to dig like a shovel

I got tired of my scoop's lips wearing out/bending/flexing etc . So I had an idea that a digging edge like a shovel was needed. That would be tempered steel.
I had a cheap shovel from Harbor Freight that was about the right size. Cut off the blade (relatively easy) tried to drill holes (near impossible) used a plasma cutter to burn holes and rebolted it to my scoop. Painted it with appliance epoxy paint and I plan on doing rust maintenance but that's ok.

Just in time for 4th July weekend. Good luck everybody.

That's really a nice mod there! :clapping: Take that shovel back to Harbor Freight and tell them it was defective! Tell them you left it stuck in the ground one night, and the worms ate the end off of it!

Everything I buy at Harbor I use a 20% discount coupon so I think the shovel was $8 out of pocket.
I originally bought it because I thought it would be good for digging on the beach. Problem was it required bending over. Forget that.
What's left is probably still useful for something. I just haven't thought of it yet. Ha.

Yep looks like the shovel is defective and you didn't notice until you got home. Take it back and get your money back! Clever idea.
