I think I won the idiot award last night...

It could be as Vinnie stated ... some ESD damage to possibily a CMOS in the RX circuit....
 
I was thinking the same thing, but I was on a static mat with a wrist strap. Also, Garrett says there is nothing static sensitive in the 250. I'll let everyone know what they find as soon as I hear from them.
 
Well, I just got off the phone with Garrett, and they have my 250 fixed. They said that it was probably just coincidence that it stopped working when I opened it, because a trimmer pot on the oscillator circuit had gone bad. They said it wasn't physically damaged, it had just died. (I think they were just trying to be nice and not call me a moron!) Long story short, it is on its way back to me, and only cost $40. Once again, I'm very impressed with Garrett's customer service!!
