I know before that she washed them on a scrub board on the side of the sink in a deep sink. I still have the scrub board, one glass and one tin, tin one has some rust on it. I got caught it in a few times jerking with it and it seemed like the top roller was spring loaded and the side flipper would engage it.

We did the same thing when we fine damp top soil, made a great cork. And I tried out the finger it and got same result. I like your description better. We used the Ohio Blue Tip stick matches in little guns we made from spring loaded cloths pins. We would flip them over, cut a new knotch in it and shoot the matches out of them. They would light up on exit. Our advanced prototype one had sand paper off the match book cover glued on it.
Welcome aboard. Great bunch of folks here with many varied interest.

Flat Top's was a step up in those days. It was every Saturday would have to sit in the bar stool at my grandfathers house and get a haircut. I think it was till I was in 3rd grade when I when my hair would grow past a 1/4 inch long, all the way to maybe a 1/2 inch on the front of a flat top. Still remember the smell of Butch Grease.

So what would you like this week son. Made no difference, it was going to be short, with the hand clipper and I think he pulled most of them out with those dammed clippers. It was 1956 before I had hair other than a flat top.
