I Ordered A New Coil For My Infinium:

I already have the 3" x 5" coil, which worked well searching rivers for relics. The 8" mono for a general all around hunting. Based on my calculations, there should be another layer of coins and rings beyond the capabilities of my 8" mono coil in both the freshwater lakes I hunt and in the dry sand. This will mean deeper holes on some occasions, but the good target:junk ratio should be off set by hunting in the deeper water. The 14" x 10' PROformance Power MONO ELIPTICAL COIL should be just the ticket. More coverage area and greater depth and not too heavy. Now some of those PI hunted out areas should get some more life into them next summer. The only problem is, there is 3 feet of ice covering those hunting spots of mine. :)

Oh man, John, you are gonna love that new search coil.:bouncy: I got mine about three months ago and it's great. The very first time that I used that 10"x14" mono on my LS I found a 14k gold womans engagement type ring with a 1/3 carat diamond in the surf of a salt water beach! I get wore out just diggin' craters to reach what this coil finds. I'm not complainin', I'm just sayin', it goes deeeeep! That's a good thing! Enjoy! I know you'll put it to good use bro'!:garrett::detecting:Happy Hunting!:)

Yes, my 10x14" mono would soak in water by resting it on a wet beach and that would be the end of the days hunt, never had it deeper in the ocean than 3 feet.

Also there was a leak with little restriction where the coil wire enters the coil housing, not something one notice when prospecting in dry country.

Not residing in the USA there was a fat chance of any satisfactory service, so I dismantled the coil to find out for sure as to why there was leaks, not pretty and definitely not a sight that would make me consider purchasing another one of the same design in a hurry, if at all.

All weather, all terrain ? ? ? yeah sure, maybe on paper.

Perhaps Garrett in USA, but as said I do not reside there and can only refer to service conditions we can expect here.

At least you now know their coils can fail.

Go play with your TDI Ivan, or shut up and mail your coil to Garrett USA and get them to replace it...they will ya know.

Alan(Oregon)Bearkat4160.........at least I do not have an identity crisis.

If you were an authorized Garrett spokesperson I would gladly follow this part of your advise and send the coils in for replacement...........face it,..........you're not!

Factual info for your memory database..... Garrett products purchased in Aust. can not just be sent directly back to Garrett USA for service, repair or replacement, it has to go via the Importer/Distributor and therein lay the hurdles.

As for playing with my detectors........ hardly..........they are used as tools in a professional manner, meaning I do not get the user adjustable functions such as audio threshold mixed up with sensitivity and depth adjustment and so I can make use of all 96 frequencies to the Max.

Results................HappyFace multiple times.

Come on over, we'll teach you.

Actually I am an authorized Garrett spokesperson as I am a Garrett dealer USA. Send your coil to me and I will send it to Garrett, no charge.
You sure did seems to like to use the "sensitivity" adjustment after I put it on the other forum.

Go ahead and set your threshold at 2-3 and see if you get any depth or sensitivity to deep targets.

"set your threshold at 2-3 and see if you get any depth or sensitivity to deep targets" ..... you are so right my friend. Much more sensitive & greater depth. I have run mine 4-5 in what I thought was dead water, but sure enough, new whispers showed up and I was digging targets once more.

You are on.

Send me a PM with your exact postal address and I shall send the 3 noisy coils with split rubbers, come to think of it might as well send the control housing at the same time and get a Professional checkup done on the lot all in one go.

Thank you kindly for the offer.

This ought to be interesting,................but like prospecting you never know, except you got to participate and guide the coil in the right direction.

This coil is posted and going your way.

I'm sure it will illuminate where after sales is honoured.

It will also be an indication if one should continue believing in supporting local dealers or in the future just import from where one can get the best deal and service.

Since there are another Garrett All Terrain unit soon to be released and with attractive offers from several US dealers plus a favourable currency exchange rate, there is a temptation in the making.

But as you said, "We'll see what happens".
