I now hate square nails more than button batteries.

Spent last Friday, yesterday, and several hours today running a 5” round coil over an area where an old farm house burnt down in 1930 (see post on “old cast toy……. Infamous WA tax token”) Friday I found a 1920S wheatie in a sea of old square nails so figured maybe I could score on same era silver.
Went back yesterday and pulled a 1919S wheatie but no silver. I cleared out a lot of those old iron square nails again too. Went back today and collected more nails but no coins. Im glad they weren’t button batteries but dang they sound and score nearly the same……
Good thing is quite a few of the nails were straight so I can turn them into “hooks” to hang anything from pictures to ball caps on! (Nails in the photo are only about 20% of what I dug, I emptied two loads in the big fire pit they have out there (by permission) and before I thought about repurposing them)

I like the site. Have you looked under those trees? People used to picnic in its shade since ancient times

This place has been detected several times by numerous folks. Obviously the silver is getting non existent but the wheats were missed as were the old tokens. Trees were first places we hit several years ago……..

Nice old wheaties!! Looks like a ton of open land and as you have found, past hunters didn’t get it all! There can still be a good chance at silver.

What detector are you swinging?

Primary is Fisher F75SE with SEF 12x10 coil. For this project I put the factory 5” coil on. One area (about where I am in the photo) appears to be where the biggest pile of burnt debris was placed. Lots of melted glass and burnt twisted metal pieces. There is still an area up behind the cellar that can be swept with the small coil yet too.
