I have not been myself lately. It's been hard doing a lot of the things I like to do which include treasure hunting and visiting here. I had a hunt yesterday and today. Found a nice surprise midway through today's digging. A real nifty 1944 quarter. First silver coin in 2010 and also the first silver quarter in some time. 2009 was the year of the silver dime. If anybody is interested my silver to wheat ratio is 1 right now. I wheat yesterday, 1 silver today. It's depressing to look at my spreadsheet as empty as it is right now. I know it'll fill up in time. Slow and steady wins the race. One of those coins yesterday was 31,000 lifetime. Got a coin from the Netherlands today too.

If interested. GTI 2500 with big imaging coil. Quarter was deeper than the guard on my Lesche so at least 7 inches down. It was a nice solid two way signal. Dime to quarter. Imaged size B at 3 inches. I knew it was a silver quarter before I dug it. I guess it's like riding a bike.

Nice to get out and get some sun and exercise.

I WISH I could find that much in a day or two ! Went out this evening for 2 hours and found 13 cents. Looks like your doing great to me.

WTG cwilk!! I am getting out tomorrow!!

Chris,

wow....great finds, and so many. You hit a good spot! In what state are you in? Funny that you fond that Dutch guilder. Few day ago I found the same with my ace that I also posted here. But then, it's not that uncommon since I live in Holland.

Good haul......

Eric. Netherlands

I live in New York. I've found coins from just about every continent now. Maybe 30 or 40 countries. That was my first coin from the Netherlands.

I've checked in every 2 or 3 weeks but I wasn't as active as I had been in the past. It felt like I was away for longer.

I got another article published in the May 2010 issue of Lost Treasure, Bill. Got my copy today. I'll say it again, you inspired me to start writing about treasure hunting. That's four articles for me. Am I catching up?

Chris

Good for you. Keep pumping those articles out. When you get to 500 you'll be fairly close. :) Gotta remember, I started about 25 years ago. You'll catch up.

Bill

I'd say you did well.
All I found were a few quarters, two toy cars but ended the day with a nice
silver roosevelt dime. You did well.

Thanks Ron. I liked the idea. The research was fun. I hope it came across OK. My biggest fan seemed to like it and I value her opinion.

Chris

I did indeed like Chris' article on treasure-hunting. I was quite impressed with it, truthfully. It is extremely well-written, and he uses a technique for developing the story idea that is most fascinating, as well as serves skillfully to humanise the experience of his hobby in a surprising and compelling manner. He really brings the craft of treasure hunting and the objects he collects to life in a very real and immediate way. I have never engaged once in metal-detection, but after reading Chris' article, I was seized with a desire to find a rod and get out to a big field somewhere to see what I might find. That is the true mark of story writing at its best!

I hope all of you who love your hobby will look for Chris' article when it is released. I guarantee you will appreciate it.

For once, I'm speechless.
