I love the outdoors!

This is my favorite picture.

If you look at the upper left part of the picture, you will see an ugly lump. Look a little left of the white dot. The cat walked by me at a range of about five feet.

I could hear something moving down the road behind me and I thought it was probably a turkey so I planned on letting the supposed turkey get right next to me and I would yell and raise my arms to scare the dumb turkey.

As the noise got closer and closer, I could finally see what it was and quickly decided I had no want or need to surprise a mature female mountain lion especially when I am sitting on the ground with no way of moving quickly and protecting myself.

I love the outdoors, I love being in the outdoors because I always see or learn something. I was sitting in this spot waiting for a color variant black bear that had been caught on the same trail cam as the one which took this picture.

I'll bet that spooked ya a bit . Glad that cat was in a good mood and wasn't feeling threatened or territorial . I wonder if sitting made you less of a threat ??

I'm fairly certain the lion had no clue I was there. I had been sitting there for a couple hours and the breeze was from right to left in the picture.

I got lucky. I was sitting between boulders with camouflage on, I was still and I was clean. The cat came from behind me. Neither of us had any idea the other was there.

The difference was I saw the cat but the cat never saw me.

The scary part to me was a mountain lion attacks from behind and usually goes for the back of the head or neck/spine.

If that cat attacked me, I had very little chance of getting away.

WoW. That's a spooky one.
Get your hair standing up for sure.
What part of the country is that ?

Cool. Nice kitty.
Though I see a Leprechaun sitting up by that white egg thing.
Where's my gold ?

Odanscoils,

The ranch I was hunting on was west of Victor, Montana. About 35 miles south of Missoula, Montana. Right in the middle of the Bitterroot valley.

If you are ever passing through or visiting someone, IM me and we can find something to do.
