I have several Detectors..But..............

Elton

New member
I seem to enjoy detecting the most with my XLT......Can't put my finger on exactly why, but, I have more fun, and more relaxation, every time I take it out.It seems with the other detectors, it's more involved interpreting the signals. And they are not as often, what the meter says.
As when using the XLT. It goes plenty deep, my finds are good, and I usually find out something new I can do with the XLT everytime out.Does anyone else find this machine as interesting as I do?.
Thanks for reading
Elton

I don't have a XLT but I have an Eagle II sl, Fisher F-75, 1236x2, Cz-20, and a Xterra-70. The Eagle is my favorite. In my opinion, technology has not made much progress since the Eagle was made. Sure machines are lighter and some are faster and have multiple frequencies but when it comes down to it the Eagle gets used. Then I go back over the trashy areas with the F-75. When the Eagle quits on me I will be getting a XLT. I would like to see Whites come out with a 5x9 DD or something close.

That would be a very good coil for depth, and getting between the trash.

But the XL Pro is a very, very, very close 2nd, and if you want depth w/TID it edges out the XLT a little.

Since it's early release I have been a fan of the XLT.

The XLT is one of the most fun and versatile detectors i have used so far and only wish it had better target separation at trashy sites but the M6 and IDX Pro fill that request nicely. I agree the XLT has so many options and could take years to learn all the facet changes and program interactions. HH Bill

#1..You say the Xl pro is deeper ?? how so by a lot or a little???

#2. You say the M6 has better seperation..is that with a standard coil, or the 9.5" I have been checking out the M6's they look interesting.
Hows the depth on an M6 ????

I love my XLT it's the best! I have only had is for this summer but it was a big improvement from the Prism IV that I had before my XLT.
I'm still having problems getting the deep stuff but I'm not complaining I'm just learning. With more experience I have no doubt that it will come.:detecting: My husband has a DFX and has been detecting for 2 years now and finds most of the deep stuff, "for now anyway!" I used an xlt since 1994. I think its still top of the line, DFX is OK for low conductivity targets, other than that not worth the extra cash.

#1..You say the Xl pro is deeper ?? how so by a lot or a little???... I can usually get an inch or two better audio depth, and up to three inches better TID lock-on. But, I am not always after 'deep' targets. The XLT is still me favorite "cruising" detector.

A year or so ago I was hunting with some friends at a local park that has kicked out some older silver through the years. It had some renovation done about 10 years ago and a lot of soil pushed around to level out an upper sports area.

I was with my friends and Aundrea was using her XLT w/8" coil and my program (with 1 change) and Chris was working his Explorer II and stock 10

Thank you for the very clear and understandable answers..What kind of modifications on your Id pro are you refering too.If I may ask, and, you care to share that info that is???

Kellyco sells a classic pro 5. I know you used this model how did it compare to the models that came before it?

i own the xl pro,and my brother has the xlt.i agree with monte!.
properly equipped with the correct accessory coil..(the "crackerjack"
6" bullseye,or blackmax),and set up CORRECTLY for the existing soil conditions, these detectors will match,or better any "alleged" top of the line detector in performance from "any" other manufacturer!

done by Bill Crabtree of Surfscanner detectors. He's done these for a number of years now and they provide an external Threshold and GB control, and a little boost to th upper-end of the Sensitivity adjustment.

that is on the Kellyco website, you'll note that it was with the first Classic 5-ID they released. It had an 8" coil, and the non-metered Classic 4 had the open 950 design.

I compared the performance of the Classic 5-ID with my Classic ID, both sporting 8" coils.

The Classic 5-ID was used mainly in a lot of woodchip and sand-filled playgrounds as well as a few sportsfields, and you can see that I got a LOT of coins. Naturally, location was the key. Overall, I did just fine with the Classic 5-ID, but I did notice a few things that I didn't care for.

The main gripe I had, and have, is that there are no smaller coils available for it. I use smaller coils 98%

Boy..Bet that makes for a nice piece of equipment.those detectors are good out of the box so I am sure that really spikes it up a bit.

Maybe I put my finger on why I like the XLT..everytime I take it out..it functions the same, "unless I change it" I like that.
Makes for a really nice hunting experience everytime.Want less dicrimination hit jewelery, want more depth hit sens..nothing changes till I do it.Numbers stay the same, pinpoints the same etc etc.Now that good!!!
Elton.
