I have decided to keep my M-6 and not buy a tesoro at this time

after reading all the feed back , some comments got the best of me , namely that i should try a strap so i found a strap only costs 25.00 shipped and according to one guy who had my same problem he was able to go on for hours whith no paine and considering im only going to get 1/2 of what i paid and all the hastle i think the strap is the best way to go plus whinter is coming maybe next year God willing i can get a tesoro it seems they are great machines great choice of coils great depth light , i wish i had one but like a man who marries a beutifull maiden but after a few years gets over wheight and no longer disirable is bound by his vows so i am bound to my M-6 but at least the strap will be my viagra Good hunting frends and thanks for the councel

Thats a heck of a perspective you have there Gunnar !!!! hahahahahah I think I understand what your saying LOL

I think your worse then me...lol one minute am selling the gtp1350 then not..then again then wanting a tesoro water one..then a whites water one.... but I still have my m6. let me know how that strap works out..as I may need one too

Well Gunnar, whatever you do, stick around, I love to read your post. I bet you would be a blast to hunt with.
I have a M6, it seems to get heavy but its so balanced, it seems I can just let it float on my fingers. Also, i dont care much for the arm strap.
John

Gunnar I have a Tesoro and I like the White's much better even tho it is heavier. Gunnar if a man is lucky the beautiful maiden becomes beautiful in many other ways, ways that count to a man also getting older. If the strap is Viagra make sure you don't get mixed up on which part of your body its on. Heres looking up to a lot of long, wild, good hunting with your m6. Jer

I used to have pain in my arm after swinging the detector. A little in the shoulder and a lot in my forearm. I'd have to put the MXT down and rest. I built a strap and it worked great. One day I shortened up the detector shaft one hole the pain was gone. I can swing the MXT all day without the strap. Try it. Rob

Thats Cool Gunnar, That 'll give you some time to think about which Tes. will be the best for you, and give you some time to maybe save up a little and find a good deal...LOL on your post, You may get your coil tangled in the tree branches when you use that Strap... ... HH ..

good decision!..i think you will find more overall with the m6,because it has more weapons than the tesoro!

(h.h!)

No matter what detector I use (light or heavy) I get what I describe as a fish hook pulling under my left shoulder blade. I swing the detector in my right hand. My right arm and shoulder never hurts. Anyone else have this?

Kenny- I would surmise you have the length set wrong. You are bending sideways more one way direction than the other..Ideally you should stand straight and tall.Have length set so your arm is straight as possible and the coil is just brushing the ground. You may be leaning down for coil placement .Try lengthening it a notch and see if that doesn't help...Just remember do not bend the elbow to much as when you do that your lifting the detector and thats very tiring and hard on your arm..but as you described above you are pulling your opposite side now leaning for the coil to reach the ground.
Hope that helps.........It just might solve the problem. PS: I am not a know it all..I experienced a similar problem and it helped me making the adjustment

Thanks Elton,
I have tried all possible combinations with no success. Oddly my brother experiences the same exact pain under his left shoulder blade. He also is right handed.

so what you are saying is , whith a shorter shaft the coil is moor striat up and down rather than extended out in front which would get more heavy to swing

i have thout about puting a wheel by the coil so i could roll it back and forth an 1" from the ground but it cant have any metal any sugjestions how to do it ?

I believe you could find or make a 100% non metal wheel. But I think then you would have 2 problems then. One would be the coil would follow the ground. This means all the bumps would shake the coils a lot. Second you would then have side to side resistance overcoming the grass. Maybe a hip mounted detector would do the trick?

Well !!! Maybe you better start detecting left handed LOL..Just kidding you !! Sorry it hurts...Have you thought about hip mount
Might be a little different feel, and no pain..Good luck Sir..

When I had my CZ5 I hip mounted it. Still the pain was there. But it takes about 2 hours for it to start hurting. I just take about a 15 minute break and start swinging again. It must be the way I'm put together or not put together! I'll bet it's me though. Because no matter how long the shaft or how light the detector - I'm always bent over some. I guess it's time for proper posture?

1.. How old are you or what's the cause for your not being able to hunt for long periods of time with an M6? I have to hunt with a cane in my off-hand nowadays due to my degenerative back disease, several herniated disks, and the arthritis to my shoulders. I do most of my hunting with my modified IDX Pro which is the same rod/housing configuration used for the M6, and I keep a 6

Monty, i am 45 yrs old and 130 pounds 5.7" and i do have a curved lower back and it seems like when i lift over 40 pounds it compreses bone on bone and can get badd so i dont lift much i mainly use a 6x10 whith no cover and the rod is at the second nothch in my paine is between my shoulders after i swing for 1 hr gets to whear i have to stop i was thinking the strap may be to much bother i will try puting the shaft at no 3 hole thanks monty
