I had to ask this guy to please burn the pick-axe he stole from Yukon Cornelious..

there's still the question of knife ordinance in my city parks. is it a knife/cutting tool/ digging tool? its in a knife sheath. looks like a knife with an offset handle. it cuts, and well it could be used as such. what do i use? dirt hard as concrete. bent gator tools to right angles, screwdriver useless. a large wood chisel and hammer might work. fair been there 100 yrs, so targets unlimited. help anyone?

That's a bummer. Up here I don't think it ever dries out entirely. Land of 10,000 lakes (actually 12,000+) and just as many swamps, rivers and creeks.

A hammer and chisel is still better than a pick-axe.

You are in a tough situation DD, no doubt. When you dig in a City Park, you're asking for trouble - period. Boils down to developing a relationship with either the park caretaker, the local cops, or all of the above. Most people will not let you dig in their yard, so you have to expect the same thing in your park. I always chuckle at the "crusaders" that are going to get the laws changed, or whatever.. just spend that energy and time researching the OLD fairground (from 1900) in your area, and you can probably go detect it with no one the wiser. whaadda we say?..simple!..message is clear!..learn to dig "properly" with the "'correct" tools!
failure to do so?..sell your detector, and go "water" fishing!..end of story!..that's it!

50/50 call larry!..could be giving the "'wrong" people "ammo" to "jam" us too!
ball's in your court!..so to speak!..begs the question!..is the glass half full?

I challenge you to dig one target in my stomping grounds with a Trowel of any kind. Had a guy hunt with me the other day that only used a Screwdriver. Fifteen minutes and he was done. I borrowed him my super heavy home made Pick and he quit after 30 minutes with blisters on his hands. I would dearly love to hunt those soft sand lawns with a Trowel but hey don't exist here. That guy hunting in the Video could have used a Trowel but he didn't. Get over it.

if ya can't dig in ground like that fall back and re group!..wait for rain, go regular fishin' instead!
that's all!!..don't attempt to dig if ya can't!..just tear things up,and give us all a "black eye!"! as far as that guy is concerned,ya gotta "teach" 'em if ya can!..if it don't take, then at least ya tried!
..these "actions" by "untrained" people "reflect on us all!..just sayin!

Its not a pick axe its a hand mattock LOL

Here he'd be fined for digging and destroying the grass...

Bad example... Didn't even try to properly fill his holes or return the dirt he threw out.

He's why we're hearing "no" when we politely ask to Metal Detect...

Relic pull tab indeed... Quarter that's a zinc penny...

Can't read his machine either... If he keeps using his bare finders he's likely to cut them but good. Tetnus hurts...

i NEVER use gloves...but i do keep my shot up to date.

I admire his enthusiasm, but I hope he does'nt take that thing to any parks.

Yikes!! I hope that's his own yard!!!

As far as I can tell it is. If only because of the garden hose. If that was a park someone would have walked off with that already...lol.
