I went to a local gun shop to buy some ammo this morning and I had planned on going straight home to do some work in the yard. As I was leaving I remembered a tot lot that was close by, so I decided to check it out and make it my first hunt of the year. I was able to hunt for about 30 minutes before a group of Moms with kids showed up requiring me to leave. I sure hope the rest of the year goes as well as this hunt. Thanks for looking. HH Dennis in Idaho

Looks like tot lot jackpot on that hunt.
Congrats !!!

I have several tot lots that produce well from time to time. I try to hit them early and late to avoid the mothers and kids, also. Unfortunately, we're still in the tail end of winter here so haven't been able to get out yet. To me, tot lots are a hoot - easy to dig, no worries about disturbing the sod and they are continually replenishing. Not likely to find much in the way of old coins, but plenty of clad and the odd piece of jewelry now and then. At one last spring, I could see the flash of gold as I turned over the wood chips and my heart began to beat a bit faster, but it turned out to be a Canadian looney (1$ piece). A minute or two later a second showed up. Several weeks later, I found a third there. Don't know how they showed up there to begin with, but they did make interesting finds.
Looking forward to hunting weather.

Looks like that tot lot produced a lot of tot loot. (Say that three times...) A BIG start for 2009 hunts. Good going Dennis! Wishing you many more happy returns on your travels. Nice picture! HH to all, Nancy

Well Dennis you did better than I did today. All I came up with were a 1929s & 1944 wheat, I did come home with another ring .925 with a small turquoise stone.
