I had absolutely the worst day of my life hunting today. I couldn't believe how rotten it was...

I hunted a few soccer fields at big park with eight soccer fields that I hunted a year ago and over a period of three days, spending three hours or so each day, I pulled right at $40.00 and some rings out of those fields. Today I walked my legs off to bloody stubs and found an incredibly lousy two cents. TWO STINKING LOUSY CENTS!!!!

This place is usually loaded with quarters and once in awhile a SAC or two. It was as if someone had passed a huge coin magnet over the whole area and sucked it dry. My legs were completely worn out by the time I got home because I'm a stubborn old fart and push myself too hard when I hit a spot like that and my old legs ain't what they used to be since I had that miserable surgery in 2008. . Really amazed me. I wanted to hit the playground but it was packed with about 4000 house apes but it never gives up much anyway. This park is in an affluent suburb and I think all the toddlers use credit cards. So I'll have to avoid that coinless hole for a few months and give it a chance to reload. What a horrible afternoon.. I did find a few coins yesterday but it didn't make up for this stinking day.

Bill. It happens! I put it down to the fact that someone sees us detecting there (in your case 2 years ago) and starts hitting the spot regularly, probably at night. We go back....zip. Gives me the screaming s..ts sometimes.
Sorry to hear you had a bad day..all you need is a good day and you'll be back on top of things.

It sounds like the soccer fields and lawn net ball courts here. I've hit those spots on a number of occassions and come up empty or close to it! So does one of the other locals. Not fun, especially when there are litterally 1 000's of people on these spots every week-end.

Just like mny adventure n the vollyball court Uncle..

It will get better thats what ya told me ....

Stay safe out there

:usaflag:I had an experience like that yesterday evening. I went back to one of the first small city parks, which had nothing but a couple pennies and a boatload of old beer cans. And...you guessed it...another boatload of old beer cans and a couple of pennies. On a positive note...the park with the gazebo is still producing a coin about every 2 to 3 feet. Virgin ground without a doubt. Also got my 2011 Coin Red Book...very interesting reading and a great reference tool...love it. Hang in there Bill...I have lots of days when I wonder why the hell I bother..but we always try again...don't we.:detecting:

Sorry to hear about that, well it happens to all of us once in a while. Maybe someone hit the field before you did. Better luck next time.

Great description Bill! I know exactly how you feel. I wouldn't get near a mob of house apes either. They are dangerous and nerve wracking too! I too did a soccer field a couple of years ago, got a couple of rings and loads of coins. I hit it a year later, and pretty well did a repeat of what you got. I guess it takes time to build up a nice crop. Now, I don't even bother hitting the same soccer field that I hit a year ago.

Yeah I'll have to give this one a rest for awhile or at least until late summer after a few hundred people have been over the fields.

Bill

Yeah one would think out of eight soccer fields there would be something - and there probably is. I just didn't pass my coil over any of it.
