Very interesting video. It does however raise a question about the At Pro. At 2:19 into the video the narrator says "This all metal iron audio as it's called, is not available on any other detector when running true all metal mode."

I must be missing something. I don't see the difference between what is shown on the video and running the At Pro in Pro Custom, Disc of 35 or 40 with the Iron Audio turned on. Either one will give target responses with VDI's ranging from 0 to 99.

I wonder if that 5X8 coil will become available for the At Pro?

Jerry I guess because the ATP doesn't have a true all metal mode, they can make this claim.

I've read that the AT Gold and AT Pro use the same coils, so we'll get a new 5x8, which is a great size to have. Now if they'll come up with a small DD sniper coil, we'll be all set!

I read both manuals last night too. Comparing At Pro Manual page 28 against At Gold pages 33 and 35 explains a lot of it. The all metal mode is different than with the At Pro. Probably should have read the manual before asking the question :)

It is going to be an interesting detector. Very glad to see the coils are common to both detectors.

Looks like it has some nice features and should be a good detector for prospecting. I don't think it will come close to PI detectors in those tough environments, but we shall see.

As for all around coin, relic and jewelry, the AT Pro is a better choice IMO.

I've not had the AT Gold in my hands but I can testify to the advantages of a true all metal mode in bad ground. The AT Pro was adequate for most soil conditions. It done decent in one of my worse dirt sites but only if it was ran in Pro Zero...which still ain't true all metal. Once you get in red iron dirt, your target ID and discriminate modes prove useless. Everything reads as iron in this type ground. With true all metal you can get a better feel of the target by how it responds in all metal...size, shape, how fast or slow it breaks the threshold. As a relic hunter this should automatically add a few or more inches of depth. Having improved GB resolution helps a ton too. I see the AT Gold as a huge improvement for bad soil relic hunting and for mineralized freshwater beaches for small jewelry.

Don't be so quick to up play the PI advantages. As good as they are for the most severe ground...they lack sensitivity to small gold compared to high freq vlfs. As a comparison, I have a TDI SL and had a GPX 5000. I have two pieces of gold jewelry that those high dollar PIs wont even break threshold on. One is a 2mm 10k rope chain that is 20". The other is a thin 10k charm about 2" high and 1" wide at top...it is a uppercase letter T in which I guess is for the UT Volunteers. The AT Pro and a competitors gold machine that runs at 19khz will pick up both pieces of jewelry 2-4 inches away. So in some cases, PIs aren't the best. But when it comes to Civil War bullets at nearly 2 feet deep, a VLF just wont compare to the high dollar pulse machines.

LOL Watch the videos of it.... it may be a prospector but it doesn't seem to be better then the ATP by a long shot for general detecting.

There is that settable threshold that is tempting...... very tempting :)

Jerry

Well the video does say it's completely waterproof to 10 feet...
