I found Hitler....believe it or not?

Decent weather here for a change so decided to see if anything would pop up with so much water in the ground. Went back to my old remnants of a barn location and checked some other areas of it. Got a tone and ID in the quarter range but a little off. Dug a hole about 6-7 inches and came up with what I thought was a silver band and then knocked the dirt off. I didn't know exactly what I was looking at(and it looking at me) till I washed it off. My German isn't the best but I know someone like edjcox can translate it once I get better pics. Hitlers face with 1933 on the bottom. I hope someone knows something about this.
Found a German medallion a couple of months ago at the same site!

Very unusual find. I founds lots of silver Hitler rings for sale from $75 on up but didn't see one like yours.............

Larry,

I did do some checking this time before I posted this....didnt see anything quite that cheap but also didnt find any of this type either. If you see one like this, please let me know thanks!

Here the writing around the face....looks like 30.1 gemeinnutz beht voreigennutz 1933

stamped 800 on inside

here is a better pic

So 1 January 1933 is the day that Adolf Hitler became Chancelor of the German Reich (see http://www.historyplace.com/worldwar2/riseofhitler/named.htm)

The words translate to the call of the common good comes before self-interest is the supreme moral law of National Socialism and part of 1920, proclaimed the party program of the Nazi Party . Nach ihr richtete sich ua die Gesetzgebung, Rechts- und Wirtschaftspolitik sowie der Neuaufbau der Volksgemeinschaft im Dritten Reich . After you set up, among other things, legislation, legal and economic policy and the rebuilding of the folk community in the Third Reich .

A good example of why so many slipped peaceably into the Nazi fold and soon became so mired that extrication was impossible without penalty of death and prison.. It's a lot like believing that good will come from a politician...

Im not sure if its valuable or not but received some email that it is not the standard common ring of this time period, so that is a good sign. Even though this time in history was "twisted" to say the least...its history worth noting and learning from. . All races & governments have their "dark hours". Some more than others!
I am not a "relic" collector or hunter but Ive been getting lucky in the past few months. I will say this....that if I find buried WWI or WW2 german gold at that location....I wont feel guilty a bit. I may not have liked how it was gotten or acquired but I had nothing to do with that. You could say....any money has "infamous" past. Like this ring...it was lost, hidden or buried along time ago and might have been lost forever, if I wasnt lucky enough to detect it.

Edjcox thanks for the translation and point of view

Thanks all!

This is the most interesting site I have found, but no cigar on your ring.

The real question is how did it get there? Are you near the coast? There are stories of german operatives coming ashore in WWII. And of course it could be the home sight of a former nazi who made his way here. Wouldn't be the first time. I would find it interesting to hear some research on the former land owners.

I'm sure there are Neo-Nazis out there who would be willing to pay top dollar for a rare example ring with their role model on it. Germany took a serious turn from politics, edjcox, when they decided that the Jewish community was the reason for their country's failures. The people of Germany ate that up and stood by and watched the results unfold.

I was given to pemission to detect on a old homestead. There used to a barn where these things have been located. A german family owns the land. They apparently have no ties or good feelings about the natzis. A lot of people were caught up in the movement but then backed out of it sooner or later. Maybe a original family member owned these items and didnt want anyone to know or maybe they were just lost. Maybe even they had someone visited them and they stayed in the barn and lost them. Who knows at this point in time? I have asked some questions of the family but dont want to ask too many questions, as it woud be unappropiate to do so. They have been nice enough to let me detect on their property and if they had anything to hide....I dont think they would have let me keep the items and let me continue to hunt there.

That is interesting. Real history and mysterious. To me, that is what metal detecting is all about. Great finds.

It's always easy to unite against a percieved common enemy and blame ones ills on that enemy. Hitler's Mein Kampf is an example where his fledgling anit semitism (begun at an early age when he was poor and struggling) turned in time to a universal twisted sentiment that resulted eventually in the Holocost. One should also remember that the Jewish people where forced out of the Eastern regions and began their westward migration as early as the begininng of the 1800's. Jealousy, envy, and plain bigotry was evident in all the nations of Eastern Europe not just and continued into the western countries of Germany, France, Belgium, Austria, an Switzerland.

We can but hope that we've learned that lesson. While in our own country we incarcerated the Japanese during the war and now are seeing a growing cultural abuse of the peoples of Islam. Perhaps the lesson deserves airing on occasion to refresh minds. Recomend a visit to the Holocost museum in Washington DC for insight into bigotry and hate and how Hitler's final solution was a warped perspective froma manifestation of evil...

thanks all and edjcox for the insite....

At a time of war...its hard to say, what the "right" thing to do is. Generally speaking, you need to secure your country but dont secure it too much or infridge the rights of its citizens. Where do you draw the line to make everyone happy and secure the people? Sometimes, there is no easy answer. If you do the political "right" thing, you may make people happy but then leave them open to attack...which then you are to blame. If you do what you think is truly best for the country, you may anger the resident aliens and the natural born as well and you are to blame again. There is no easy answer.

In any case, the ring may be strange & somewhat creepy but again its part of history and consider myself lucky to find it.

I just want to enjoy the sport of detecting and leave the politics to the people that are supposed to do it.

I still looking for someone that has seen or knows of this ring....Thanks!

Ive had several people contact me with info but none of the info really pertains to this ring. Still looking to find out more about this ring....please let me know if you do!

I dont think there was anything like that in that area.

It could have been any number of things that happened at that time....Im doing more research and will post if I find out any worth while.

I did find out today that there was a great deal of german/nazi "uprising" in that area and west coast for that matter. US government was worried about different issues in regard to that. Secret operations on both sides working against each other.

Maybe this will shed more "light" on this subject.....more later!

Weather is finally getting better here and decided to try a old homestead site that has been fruit full in the past. Only had about 1 hour or so of light left so I didn't waste time. I decided to try a little different area than inside the old remnants of a barn. Found a 1939 penny and thought that's about it for today. Then heading back, I got a signal. It was a high tone but different than a coin. It was bouncing around a bit but still a decent tone with mostly 3 green bars. I flipped it to analyze and varied to what it was...but still gave me a good wave most of the time. I decided to dig as light was fading. I dug up part of can about 6-7inches and thought that was it. Checked with detector again and bars were stronger and wave was very good! Thought wow....hear comes the silver dollar but numbers were off. I dug about 4-5 inches more and I came up with a can with some kind of lubricate/oil inside. I once read about a guy that found 100 dollar bill in foil container so I don't throw much away until I get it home. Put the latex gloves on and started cleaning the can to see if any coins inside the muck or maybe the can would be some kind of interest. Then, I got a glimmer! Thought it might be a lighter but to my surprise better than that. I believe it to be a Nazi belt buckle. There was no signs of the belt but after all these years....I guess there wouldn't be much. I had to clean the buckle about 5 times with solvent & degreaser. It came out pretty nice! This makes the 3rd WWII Nazi item that I found. Again, I'm not a relic hunter but....maybe I should change my way of thinking about that?

I really like the analyze screen as I don't know if I would have dug it without it!
