I don't believe I've ever dug one of these that was in better condition......

Shocking. It is hard to believe something that beautiful was buried in the ground, but it certainly was. VERY NICE FIND! Way to go Digger.

You're correct GateKeeper, I don't post many of my finds. Having been involved with the CTX since day 1, I've been getting more enjoyment out of seeing how well everyone else is learning their detectors. But.....every once in awhile, I stumble across a special coin and I just can't help myself!

I was using the stock coil.
(as taken from comments I made on the Resource Center)......When folks ask me what program I use for a certain type of detecting, I am more than willing to share some that I have built. However, what works well for me in my part of the world may not work as well for someone else, in another part of the world. We all have different hunt styles, hunt for different types of targets, and hunt in different soil conditions. With that in mind, I encourage everyone to learn the functionality of CTX 3030 and build their programs based on their personal preferences. You can start with the factory default programs, tweak them in XChange2 and save them as a new program.
With that said, on this particular day, at this particular site, I was using Combined Audio and Ferrous Coin Separation. FE line was set at 21. CO bins were set a 1-15, 16-29, 30-42 and 43-50. CO pitches were set mid-range to high (proportional to CO values) and low tone on FE bin. Fast and Deep were OFF. Response was set to Normal. Open screen to hunt in and a separate discrimination Pattern to confirm and isolate. The discrimination Pattern was basically the same one I have posted on the Resource Center for parks and yards. Ground Balance was not enabled. Auto Sensitivity +3, which was running at 24. Target Trace was ON, Target Trace Pinpoint was ON, with Pinpoint Sizing implemented. GPS was turned off as I knew the area I wanted to hunt, and I kept within eyesight of the truck. With these settings, and a couple foreign objects in the hole, the quarter hit with a consistent 12/42. Oh! There it is! Thanks for finding that for me! I knew I lost it somewhere. I'll PM you my address so you can return it to me :please:

Thanks. I live in SW Iowa........an area with no battlefields, no saltwater beaches, no raw gold and no settlements prior to the mid 1800's. Other than that, it is a detectorist's paradise! HH Randy

Very Nice SLQ Randy!!

Congratulations on a beautiful SLQ! It is also amazing that this coin eluded detectors for the past 40+ years.

I hit a park today that has been hit hard for the past 40+ years
