I.D vs ground conditions

Ive often read of ground conditions affecting i.d on some machines but today was an eye opener.
Normally set the D2 up and put controller in pocket, but I put it on the stem today. Hunted on well weathered plough, surface just drying out.
Lead which normally reads 50/52 was 67/68
Shotties normally 67 came in at 90 🤔
Coke normally a guaranteed 25 was 28/30
The only thing not affected seemed to be copper sheet at 45.
Love this hobby.
p.s searched in relic mode.

That is a WILD amount of variation!

Put a piece of tape over the screen or put it back in your pocket and hunt by sound only and you will find lots of stuff. Works on all detectors lol.
Numbers have a way of messing up your thoughts, satisfaction, and enjoyment of the hobby.

Have never ever dug by numbers, and have clocked up over 200 hours on D2, was just so surprised by differences.

No machine is always accurate all the time by numbers. As much as people want to believe the numbers are gospel and publish lists and books stating so.
If that was the case the manufacturers would set the numbers to targets in the manual. Too many variables
