I certainly hope Minelab comes up quick with a fix for the shut dwon situation.

If I had not sold my E Trac I would hold off at the present time on the ctx. Between the shut downs and the speaker not shutting down with the headphones plugged and other things that I have read about (negative things) I am losing my patience. I am sure it will be a good detector but man !

Minelab is working on it Sonny.----Also, we as users are doing what we can to find out the cause of the problem.----Don't know what else to say about your complaint.---We're all pretty much in the same boat on this.-----Del

I for one am really enjoying using the CTX. I know there are a few issues, but none make the machine unusable. The better balance, speed and screen with target trace, not to mention the combined tones, were well worth the expense for me. Now I just NEED to get the six inch coil, and all will be right with the world...

I know exactly how you feel about losing patience Sonny.

I've watched you post the same comments over and over again. I'm not sure what point you are trying to make. But let's go through them one more time.............. The CTX 3030 is not an E-TRAC. It is a whole new detector. Some of the features may appear to be similar. But the functionality is greatly enhanced. The speaker does not shut off with some of the headphones used with other detectors because the jack assembly used in the CTX 3030 requires the sleeve lead, as well as tip and ring. Some headphone manufacturers had built in a compensation "toggle" to accomodate various detector manufacturers requirements. But making them compatible with the new CTX 3030 was not a function of the toggle. As I said, the CTX 3030 is not an E-TRAC. It is a whole new detector. If after you receive yours, your headphones dont' work, Minelab has posted diagrams of headphone wiring on their website, allowing users to "restrap" their current headphones to be compatible with the CTX 3030......Ralph has posted what can be done with SunRays.....and many posts have been made regarding a $3 adapter that is available at Radio Shack and other electronic stores. The CTX 3030 comes with a set of Koss headphones for land hunting. Since they were electronically designed to be compatible with the CTX 3030, it shuts the speaker off. The Wireless Module accomodates both Stereo and Mono headphones. There are several options available for underwater hunting. Earlier this week, one sponsoring dealer posted having several pair of Minelab underwater CTX 3030 headphones for sale. Others have posted that they'd been notified by their dealer that the waterproof headphones will available this week. And there are other posts regarding a person who has made other models of headphones compatible with the waterproof jack in the CTX 3030. As to the shut down issue, Minelab is aware of the situation and is working to resolve the issue. I have confidence that they will do so very soon.

Considering the short period of time the CTX 3030 forum has been up and running, there have been more opinions shared than for any other metal detector. As Moderator, I don't have a problem with people posting their opinion about the operation of the CTX 3030. If they actually used one, they are entitled to their opinions. And I don't have a problem with folks "airing ligitimate concerns" with the CTX 3030. The shut down issue is a ligitimate concern. But to read the same complaints, from the same people, over and over again, has become tiring. No one forced you to sell your E-TRAC. If you now wish you hadn't, there are probably people on this forum that would make you a good deal on theirs. If you purchased the CTX 3030 based on your faith in Minelab and now you wish you'd held off..... that is your perrogative. Your dealer probably has a list of folks who would be happy to take that one, and he could send you another E-TRAC. Whatever you decide, keep in mind that the Minelab who has stood behind every product they ever built is the same Minelab that has now introduced the new CTX 3030. And they are the same Minelab who is working diligently to resolve the shut off issue. If you suddenly lost that faith you've had in Minelab for years.......that too is your perrogative. But recognize before you make another post, if it is just the same stuff repackaged, I'll be tranferring it to the Feedback Forum.
