Huge Silver Coin Spill!

A coin roll is a good theory, however I've been back to hunt the spot 2 more times and have found a grand total of 32 dimes. This makes me think that the coins are not from a roll or I would have found even more. I tend to believe that they were probably put there by a child in a container that was either cloth or paper. I just don't think an adult would have buried dimes.

We'll likely never know the whole truth, but it sure made for a fun hunt! :)

Finding all those dimes in a small area would tend me to think that maybe they were once in a coin roll? If it was a coin roll then there could possibly up to 50 dimes total...if the roll was full. :yikes: The paper which would have held them together would have probably disintegrated by now. Just a thought.

BTW...Great finds! Go back another time and see if you can find the other loose ones. There is that chance it might have been a full roll at one time. Who knows?

Brierfield, congratulations on your memorable hunt! It's a great feeling to keep pulling silver coins out of a hole. I hope that you swing your coil over another spot like that! Best of luck and...

Happy Hunting!
