how would you handle this

I would ask his neighbors. And then pull really good stuff outta their yards. It will make them feel better while making that other guy think twice.

well sir, i'd be real tempted to laugh in his face, saying, " i don't work for free. my time is valuable too," then take a nickel out my pocket, throw it in the road, and see if he'd go after it. the guy sounds like potential trouble anyway. i would certainly steer clear of him. there's more and better places to go to. good luck, and hh!

I would politely:angel: say thanks for the opportunity to hunt the property and leave it as that. No need to go through the headache:stretcher:. Sounds like the owner is possessive of things:argue:, probably how he got rich. :devil:Several weeks later, at night, go dig up the rose bushes and blame the neighbors dog.:rofl:

a while back one two of my friends and i ask to detect the oldest home in a town i used to live in and after agreeing with the owner to a 50/50 split (and happy about it too) we began our search of the yard,we were finding a few
good targets some silver and ih's with some odds and ends mixed in,well to make a long story short one of my friends found a compact from the twentys and showed it to the owner who then took it in the house to see what was inside becouse it rattled(hardened makeup most of the time) well we never saw it again,we never asked about it we just kept searching the grounds and after we finished we took our finds to show the owner and gave it to her to keep:biggrin: then we went to the car and drove off,my first question to my friends was how much thay had in THERE SHOES????? we all started laughing becouse we all had barbers,IH,mercs, rosies, even a franklin half:thumbup:,now if she would have just asked to keep the compact she would have been more then welcome to it along with her 50% of what we found! so if you just want to look for a few old coins or relics go ahead and look at least he gave you permission to look and yes i have gave some owners of the property ALL that i have found and some of it was worth a few dollars(one coin over 200.00 dollars) but i had fun looking and showing him how to detect and dig targets while i was there and THAT was what detecting is about having FUN!!!!! Just DON'T TELL ME YOU WILL SPLIT 50/50 AND THEN TAKE 51%
