How to make your own Sidekick for the Propointer.

My late aunt had a name for dishonest people. Low-Down Dirty Crooks. It's a shame the people we elect to serve us don't have the guts to go after crooks like these. Of course, then they would have to answer the question: Why did they send 20 million manufacturing jobs to China in the first place.

The above post was in response to critterhunter's post about the Chinese stealing someone's antenna invention, I think this is great that you went public to help your fellow metal detector members out. Just wanted
to make sure you understood what I posted.

Many times a patent is just not worth getting. I wouldn't patent a small product like this because it appeals to maybe one out of several thousand people.
Save your money, just manufacture it and sell it to detectorists. I patented an item and lost money even tho for over 3 years it was in Harriet Carter, Home Trends, Get Organized, Walter Drake, Miles Kimball, etc catalogs. Wasn't a big enough money maker for the catalogs and eventually got kicked out of each. My best product (since 1999) is in a niche market (does not appeal to the general public) has no patent, I manufacture it alone in my basement and sold more than $1,000,000 worth from my website to small and large corporations, state and federal government. Again, no patent. After expenses and taxes I'm not getting rich but this tiny business works for me and I still have enough time for metal detecting.

Hey ISM, Did you make the circuit board and micro switch or is this something that we can buy or do you have anymore to sell?

Sorry Chakra22, I haven't been in the mods forum for a few days.
I had the boards made and assembled the rest myself. I do have a few more kits left to sell.
Now it comes packaged a little better for gifting etc. PM me for more info.

Ism,

Since getting these for my self, and installing it, I have to say, I'm most impressed with how it works. Generally I seem to get one or maybe two extra inches pinpointing with this in hard clay in the parks around home. However, I get considerably more than that in the leafy, loamy, pine needle soil on the family land. The family land has a variety of soil types, so I get a variety of depths with this - but, I can always find the metal in the ground with the sidekick as oppose to without it.

Thanks very much!

Ran, I am brand new to both the forum and detecting, although detecting does run in the family blood. Congratulations on your invention. Curious if you still have any sidekicks available? I cannot find a method to send you PM as your email is hidden. Thank you for sharing this information, and wishing you continued success. HH Matt
